Did not know that there was ever any realistic hope in constructive outcomes when negotiating with fascists that want to rule the world. The world tried it in the 1930s. That did not work out so well.
Even if a deal was struck (under the table of course), Russia must provide cover for Biden. I am not saying that a deal has been struck, but this is not that meaningful. We will have to see what happens after.
Also, as I anticipated, Putin just wants to be at the table with the “Big Boys”. If only he didn’t perceive them that way...

Is is really that difficult to see that Putin has a Napoleonic complex? And that he’s really nothing but a Mafia-boss styled thug. Dude takes “Macho Man” shirtless pics; c’mon man!!!???I'm really surprised that you have such a view of Putin. Outside the US, I doubt Putin considers any of these western countries as "Big Boys" relative to Russia. The way Russia addressed it demands exactly reflect this.
Have you read the man's history? Vladimir Putin wanted to serve his country since he was a child. He went to the KGB and asked to join, at which point they declined and asked him to be a good boy and study well. He asked what would they like him to study, so they said foreign languages. Years later, barely a young man, Putin received notice from the KGB that they would now consider him, so he immediately dropped out of school to join. Years later, he re-emerged a young Russian agent, long used to living under the cruelest of training regiments under which many proud men have succumbed, fluent in English, German, and his native Russian. Hot-blooded, at the fall of the Berlin Wall, he begged his superiors to take action to stop NATO, to allow him to take action, but they refused. It set a smoldering fire within him to drive NATO back and to return Russia to glory. Decades later, he is the most beloved Russian leader, an old lion who walks with a gunslinger's gait. Behind him lies the power of his people and in front of him the fear of all Western rivals. Is is really that difficult to see that Putin has a Napoleonic complex? And that he’s really nothing but a Mafia-boss styled thug. Dude takes “Macho Man” shirtless pics; c’mon man!!!???
There’s a difference between someone that’s potentially politically useful and someone that’s admirable. Just because Putin’s charades might benefit China doesn’t mean that he’s either admirable or particularly smart.
If Putin were some geo-political genius, he’d have re-oriented Russian political, military, and economic policies away from Europe and towards China and Iran long ago. Instead, he continues selling weapons to one of China’s principal regional antagonists and groveling for attention from the west.
Putin might be useful, he is not admirable!
