I just don't believe that Russia will amass 150-190k troops just to send in 40-60k and wait for political settlement, and it doesn't seem like Putin is keen on reaching a political settlement.

You are not suppose to put 100% of your troops up to the front line from the get go. The correct way to command is to hold back some of your force in reserve and rush them forward to plug holes and weakness in your lines when defending and punch through holes and weakness in the enemy's lines when attacking.

lol i think ya'll are overrating Putin intelligence a bit here. like Russia can miscalculated has long as they have room for adjustment and that's what they are doing now. i say it before here and i say it again Putin goal is to establish a Russian empire NATO issue is mute cause it merely an excuse. his intention are clear now.
