Yeah its a screwed situation eh. We all know that laying down arms will end the conflict earlier, but if we step back to how it was during the sino Jap war, it is still one's duty to defend their homeland no matter how hopeless it may seem at the time.

Not sure why they are saving this until now.

Might be related to those airborne troops from the morning? Its pretty close to Hostemel Airport. Doubt the armored column would reach this area so quickly.

Not exactly, it depends on whether the State involved is a "Black Sea Power" or not. Black Sea Powers are not as restricted (aircraft carriers aside). So Russia can send ships larger than 15000 tons through, each escorted by up to 2 Destroyers. Note however there is latitude for Turkey to say Yah or Nay under certain conditions.
