Where are all Ukraine fighter plane are flying from ? Were they sent out of country anticipating a russian attack ? Seems like Russia hasn’t achieved a complete Air superiority over Ukraine yet.

Wait, if Russia has control of the air, how the heck did Ukraine manage to counterattack without being targeted by Russian air support?
Maybe Ukrainian AF is still active in a sense?

Some of the post-strike pictures showed they didn't manage to plaster 100% of the airbases. Or they just damaged a lot of planes instead of a full successful strike. So they must have saved their remaining air assets for this critical operation.

Still though, surprised the Ukrainians managed to get enough together to hold off the airborne assault and the reinforcements (if they ever came). That saves them from the imminent danger but this is only day 1 remember.

Ukrainian Ministry of Defense

Early enemy losses: 30+ tanks, up to 130 armored fighting vehicles, 5 aircraft and 6 helicopters.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also warned residents of Sumy, Chernihiv, Kherson, Zhytomyr, Kyiv and Kharkiv regions about a possible increase in the number of Russian troops with fuel and ammunition and asked to pass on information about enemy vehicles to leadership of settlements and regions.

Remembering that Ukraine still offers resistance in Kharkov, Sumy, Chernigov and Kherson. As already published, it appears that the Ukrainians have retaken Hostomel.

Russia really isn’t at the forefront of implementing drones into their formations.
AND Ukraine isn’t Libya. Unlike the Libyans, the Ukrainians actually have a competent military culture that is found in the tactical and strategic levels of leadership. Even if Russians had drones, the drones won’t shift the tide of battle.

Not sure but either way I am not impressed with Russia. That Ukraine still has planes and is also able to have an airbase/airport to launch them is a failure of Russian planning

And lack of drones should be a big part for these high casualties on the ground force.

Not good enough. I dont know who is at fault here. Is this really the military's fault, or Putin's for placing unreasonable restraints on them?
