I imagine Ukraine is now busy blowing up bridges and railway embankments ahead of the Russian army advance. They are also likely keeping the majority of their forces in reserve until they get a full picture of the Russian battle plans. The deeper the Russians advance into Ukraine, the more precarious their logistics will get. Logistics (dependence on light trucks and over-reliance on artillery) is one of Russian weaknesses, as was put on display in 2014 and 2015 when their BTGs were defeated by Ukranian forces despite having an overmatch in firepower.
But the Russians are attacking with airborne forces. Destroying infrastructure will not slow them down.

Looks epic. No helos shot down unless I am missing something
Correct, MANPADs were defeated by flares and probably jamming.

It was a really stupid ambush because of all the guys wasting ammo and giving away their position with useless small arms fire when the helicopters were still well outside of effect range.

They might have had more luck had they held their nerve and only fired with the MANPADs when the helos were close to give the pilots minimal warning and no reaction time. Although that might not have worked either if the helicopters had up to date self defence suites, which would have triggered automatically upon missile launch detection.

Remember that violence is always a sign of weakness.

When two animals come to a contest it is always the weaker one that becomes aggressive first. Everything else is a deception and judging from the comments here too many of you have fallen for it. Germany didn't attack in 1939 or 1941 because it was strong but because it was weak. So did Japan. So did the US in Iraq in 1991 and 2003. So did Russia in Ukraine in 2022.

I'll leave you with this great quote from Isaac Asimov's "Foundation": "Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent."
Fully agree, however the USA get into tehy current position by violence, so why not repeat it ?

And anyway, this situation creating a completly new framework for any future strategy.
