The Russians were able to effect an organized retreat from Kiev because they had actually properly prepared for it probably weeks in advance.

As in the early 1980s, there will be a new arms race. And a protective umbrella is being sought that is not called NATO and that effectively protects countries that are threatened by their neighbors. Perhaps every house and apartment will be equipped with a drone, an anti-tank missile, a MANPAD and a satellite connection, so that no military ground vehicle or military aircraft dares enter inhabited areas.

War is about to get much bloodier and much less concerned for civilian casualties then.

Even here, their problems with command and SEAD were revealed. It's to their supreme luck that Georgia is as weak relative to Russia as Iraq was relative to US, but Ukraine is as strong relative to Russia as Imperial Japan was relative to the US. Imperial Japan inflicted some serious pain on the US too, and in a theater that decisively favors the bigger economy (naval), which disfavors Japan.

Nah, Georgia was far weaker - Iraq still had a relatively large military despite being drained from the war with Iran. I'd say Ukraine is a closer comparison to Iraq, maybe slightly stronger (relative to Russia-Ukraine, not in absolute terms) but they are definitely nowhere as strong as Imperial Japan was at that time, lol. Imperial Japan was short on resources and overstretched on multiple fronts, which led to its downfall.

Nah, Ukraine is 100% stronger then Iraq was when US invaded (not to mention more spirited/higher morale, smaller difference between them and Russia compared to Iraq and US etc.).

Not entirely sure if it can be said to be like Imperial Japan vs US (but I would say closer to that compared to Iraq).

Maybe but definitely nowhere close to Imperial Japan vs the US, lol. The Ukrainian military is relatively tiny, with old equipment (despite all the freebies they have been getting), less trained, etc. Don't forget that IJ was waging offensive wars on multiple fronts at that time (with war in China draining a lot of resources from them) and it was them who attacked the US in PH. Ukraine is nowhere close to threaten Russia like that, so I feel like on the Iraq - IJ scale, they are definitely closer to Iraq.

It took out a Russian MI-28 yesterday. Bet lost :D

Starstreak darts fly at over Mach 4. At their extreme range of 7km time to target is 5.3s. Thanks to 3x 1kg combined tungsten-explosive darts travelling at 1.3km+/s, the weapon is also effective against light armored vehicles.
