Latest Maruipol map according to southfront. They too have identified that 68th Guards Tank Regiment have made a push to the train station area on the west side of the city and potentially cutting the defenders in two. They also seem to think Azovstal is largely taken which would be news to me.

russia is likely to want to include china as the only non-hostile great power with significant weight to throw around in any arrangement.

Again, the short sighted, xenophobic and close minded attitude of some chinese to taking part in security arrangements in the western world is really puzzling. Being part of such arrangement does not preclude china from simply pulling up stakes and leaving if the arrangement collapses, but it give china opportunity to exact a price for collaborating to get done, or at least not obstructing things that needs to be done under the arrangement while the arrangement stands. It’s called a proactive if opportunistic foreign policy.
Eh I don't see China being a part of any such agreement unless China can somehow pull UN into it as well maybe?

The stuff about the Russians reducing military activity in the northern front would make sense based on what's happening on the ground.
Seems to be official

"Russia’s deputy defense minister says Moscow has decided to “fundamentally cut back military activity in the direction of Kyiv and Chernigiv” in order to “increase mutual trust for future negotiations to agree and sign a peace deal with Ukraine.”

"Breaking: Russia is beginning to withdraw some forces from around the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, in what the US assesses is a “major” strategy shift, two senior US officials tell me. US is already observing movements underway of Russian Battalion Tactical Groups (BTGs) 1/"

"2/ In the US view, this is not a short-term adjustment to regroup, but a longer-term move as Russia comes to grips with failure to advance in the north. Russian MOD said Tuesday it has decided to “drastically reduce hostilities” in the Kyiv and Chernihiv directions."

So staying there was a diversion more or less... Strange stuff, we will see if they will bomb troops that pour out of Kyev ?

I suspect china won’t take the chance to be part of such agreement, but it should.
No it shouldnt. China has military assistance obligations only with NK, and even then, its not a blank cheque.

If superhero Zelensky thinks that China is going to come and save his a$$ because he messed things up, then he is gravely mistaken. We have seen the level of his "statecraft", so excuse me for having doubts that China will want to chain itself to such a deplorable political class.

China shouldn't touch Ukraine even with a 10ft pole

Nothing to do with xenophobia. China doesn't guarantee the security of North Korea or any of it's other allies, so why should it guarantee the security of Taiwan supporting, America worshipping Ukrainian nazis?

Feel free to list the actual benefits China receives from this suggestion.

Why don't you get India to guarantee Ukraine's security if it is such a good idea? That would make much more sense.
