The Russian MOD claims to have fully captured Izium. If true, this would be the biggest news out of the war since the fall of Kherson earlier this month. But I stress the "if true" part, since we don't have any kind of visual confirmation on the ground. This may be because the Russians don't actually have the city, or they don't have it entirely secured, or there's an active battle happening right outside and there's no time for photos, or something else. But it's definitely something to pay attention to.
Izium is way smaller than Kherson. It is barely a blip in comparison. But it is good for them that the northern axis of advance is finally moving so they can close the trap on the bulk of Ukrainian army around Donbass. Isn't this close to where those broken down T-90 were spotted in the start of the campaign? I think this was supposed to be main pincer of northern attack and these guys are delayed compared to southern axis.

One thing is proven

Russian cannot take towns and cities

even the ones they take they can’t hold

Mariupol is cut off and Russia still can’t take the city

odessa and Kiev are much larger

Mariupol has 431k people. It is reasonably large.
There are larger cities in Ukraine but I doubt the resistance will be as fanatical as with Azov.
The main thing is to destroy their army and supplies and continue to grind down their equipment.
It is way too early to think about assaulting the main cities. And if there is a large city which will be assaulted first it will likely be Kharkiv.

No, I think that 300 second rule is an excellent one. Stop spamming the thread.

@asif iqbal bro don't want to be rude, you're not in the military and all of us are amateurs BUT even I understood their tactic which is to destroy the main army in the field by encirclement or a cauldron. Amateurs talk about tactics But Professional talks logistic.

what I don't understand is, why are Ukrainian forces fighting to the end and why has Ukraine essentially issued a "Not One Step Back" order? Typically in countries with ideology and GDP per capita like Ukraine, the military is demoralized because the government is viewed as corrupt, spineless and sellout. what's the point in defending the regime that allows you to be exploited? what's the difference between Russian boss and Ukrainian boss, after all? Russia has 3x higher GDP per capita overall, 5x higher in Moscow.

In most cases of a country with low GDP per capita fighting a defensive war, it is very difficult for them to not suffer a collapse in morale even fighting weaker enemies, unless they have strong ideology. Witness how Syrian Army collapsed against a few rebels, 30k worth of Iraqi armor flee against 3k ISIS, Afghan National Army surrendered to Taliban in weeks, NRA surrender by the millions vs PLA, South Koreans collapsing against North Koreans, PAVN overrunning ARVN within 2 years after US left, etc. Every time when faced with a strong, ideological enemy with offensive mindset, developing country armies just shatter.
They are being invaded so of course they are resisting hard. Ukraine nationalism is a real thing. Majority of Ukrainians hate Russia and are fighting. There was polls done before the war that showed that about 65-70% of Ukraine’s said they would fight a Russian invasion. So just because they have a lower GDP doesn’t mean they lack will to fight. You have to give them credit they are resisting very hard and are over preforming. It’s not going to be a cake walk for Russia.
