Russia says it’s struck another mercenary base in Ukraine​

A Ukrainian Special Operations Forces training center near the town of Ovruch in the northern Zhytomyr Region, which hosted the mercenaries, was targeted by “high-precision air-launched missiles,” ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said during a briefing.

Some are worried about an insurgency for Russia. but typically managing the insurgency is the easy part. British Empire did it all the time. there's Russian speakers in Ukraine. Make them a ruling class with privileges. Ukrainian speakers are made second class citizens. Arm the Russian Ukrainians while disarming Ukrainian speakers. Support the Russian speakers with Russian army units.

Now the Russian Ukrainians have the motivation to put down any insurgency. They'll be a hated collaborator class so they know if they don't put down the insurgents, they end like Rwanda. So they'll be motivated to use an iron fist and accept all Russian aid. That's the stick. The carrot part is that any Ukrainian who proves Russian ancestry and Russian language ability can be admitted to the ruling class.

Is this brutal? Yes. Does it work? Also yes.

Britain is utilizing its new so-called counter-disinformation unit to buy ads on Russian social media to disseminate London’s view on the conflict in Ukraine, the Telegraph claimed on Saturday.

The Government Information Cell (GIC) is operated between the Ministry of Defence and the Foreign Office, the first such unit since the end of the Cold War.

The unit’s “crucial audiences” are in Russia and Ukraine, the article highlights. After Moscow blocked Twitter and Facebook, the Telegraph reports, the GIC has turned to advertising agencies to “target” Russian users on sites such as VK, the country’s most popular domestic social media platform.

I said as much too. You only need 10% of the population on your side to control a country. Rwanda shows that. If you put the LPR, DPR, and Crimea population together it is more than 10% of the population of Ukraine. Even without the new territories. The LPR and DPR alone have like 4 million people. Crimea has 2.4 million. The population of the LPR and DPR has been hardened by 8 years of constant fighting and shelling.

Their major problem will be how to stop supplies to the insurgency from pouring in from NATO countries. But that is nothing a massive wall would not solve. And if they do capture Ukraine all the way to the border there are natural barriers in most of the border.
