If the battle of Mauripol is any sign it’s that future urban battles in Odessa, Khariv, Chergniv, Sumy and Kiev will be a bloodbath. It’s going to be very slow and be a grind. The Ukrainian military strategy seems to be make the Russians pay for every inch they take. And maybe Russia needs more manpower to take the east. Which is weird they 200,000 force mobilized. I guess they’ll need 100k more. Southfront which is pro Russia website isn’t afraid to call out Russia’s limits and deficiencies.

Germans did it in example budapest, this strategy expecting that either the enemy willing to kill the civilians, or the city is foreign for the "defenders" without any emoitonal connection.
It will devastating the city and kill many innocent. Nothing else .

The Russians have reverted to the posture of bombing everything to rubble. They're doing it already in Mariupol.
That's the most casualty efficient method for them to remove resistance.
The hope the Russians will be stopped cold really stems from the assumption they don't have the manpower to do these operations.
And they won't dare repeat Gronzy or Aleppo in Europe.
Hard to justify this to the Russian public, but it's this or Russia failing to achieve any goals that's worth the death of thousands of soldiers.
Mariupol is the operation area of the Azov.
That is the NO1 target of russia, as the main organisation to terrorise and kill ethnic russians.
Defenders of other cities most likelly will be local residents, and they won't buy the USA advises about " you need to destroy every inch of your country, otherwise our profit margin will collapse".

Time definitely benefits China. Time allows for the GDP ratio to improve, for military modernisation to improve, for comparative technological progress to improve, for greater economic resilience and self-suffiency.
The only problem with your assumption is that it is the West that is being isolated here from the other 7 billion inhabitants of this world, unless you are completely unaware of recent actions by India, Pakistan, Iran, Gulf States, and many African nations. Hell, even Latin American nations in America's backyard has refused to follow the West in the current crisis.
