Why would they bother with VTOL when it has a EMALS. An Electromagnetic catapult?
Because take off is usually not a big deal, since t:w ratios got modern.
Landing is.

And here, despite its wideness, we see a straight deck. With all its implications for jet aircraft.

I never understood the fascination some people have for VTOL military aircraft.

Sometimes only a fixed wing aircraft can get the job done.
Sometimes only a rotary wing aircraft can get the job done.
I cannot think of a scenario in which only a VTOL aircraft can get the job done.

and that's the problem I have with VTOL aircraft.
However China has a lot of money $$$ in the budget so who knows what's going to come next?

The Type 076 is basically a next-level amphibious assault ship, kind of like an LHA but with some unique features. From what I’ve read, it’s supposed to have catapults, which could make it capable of launching drones or maybe even fixed-wing aircraft. That’s a pretty big deal since it blends the role of an assault ship with some carrier-like capabilities. I’m no expert, but it seems like a smart move to add more flexibility to their fleet.
It is better to write with your own hand and not using a chatbot to post here. Evryone knows that type 076 has a catapult for years if not months, or after viewing the few video posted in last 2 days. I suspect the chatbot did'nt know this.

Think of it as more of a sea control ship. Which has a lot of ISR platforms on board, and strike platforms during amphib operations, can surge ASW capability when needed, and can possibly fly cap for the fleet in a pinch. It won't have the operational tempo of an attack carrier, but should more than suffice for supporting water and land operations in marginal seas. It's kind of like British carriers during WWII or soviet carriers in the late Cold War I.

I suggest Mod to ban/block this bot.

This poster apparently does not repond to reality, things that has happened. That makes him/it either a bot, or a troll, most likely the former.

Providing decent CAP (not impaired by limitations of STOVL aircraft) during amphibious operations is the first thing that comes to my mind when I see CV-size EMCat on a LHA.

Did we see the AESA 1130 here before?
Is this the first launched ship besides 004 with the AESA 1130?
