The second batch is likely to be the same as the first one, at most with some minor improvements. The 055A, with more significant upgrades, e.g. IEPS, railgun, takes more time. China has the pressure and need to put more 055's into service asap, given the drastically changing strategic environment.

I'm guessing the second batch would be in the 4-8 units range.

Trump can invade China any minute, especially if Trump does coup and become emperor. As such, China needs 20 Type 055 before the end of 2025. Type 055A is supposed to be in the 15,000 tons range and can kill carriers quite easily.

Have you read our forum rules? How many times do you have to be asked to follow them? If you don't want to, then go somewhere else where your nonsense is tolerated.

Anybody can explain why it takes a long time to commission these ships once they are launched?
There seems little literature out there why it takes two years before they can be commissioned.
It’s a deliberate decision. They could launch them at a much larger level of completion, but then they would tie up valuable dry dock capacity.

System verifications, checks for defects, acclimatization of crew with the vessel, training of crew for maritime as well as defence. I'd be not confident if China decided to rush the commissioning as it gives ammunition for adversarial nations to bad mouth Chinese PLAN regarding readiness and quality. I am fully in support of a commissioning that takes its due time.
