TWR and Wing Loading issues with the JF-17

A lot of Pakistan's internal military politics is based around the concept that they lack strategic depth and need to get it somewhere.
That might be pushing into Kashmir or Afghanistan. This is similar to the geostrategic issues Russia has. But Russia controls the flats around both sides of the Urals. So they can count on that as a strategic reserve.

So while I don't agree with Pakistani, well the secret services at least, policy with regards to support these types of insurgents I understand it from a geostrategic point of view.

Yes the strategic depth concept was applied to Afghanistan and is a later development of our military's strategy.

However, the Kashmir issue predates this strategy, and began as a political problem at partition. Our claim is that collusion between Mountbatten and the Nehru government, cheated Pakistan and gave Kashmir to India, due to hypocritical actions. We claim that territory as integrally ours. On top of that, this territory is strategically relevant due to the fact it is the highest ground on the border and also contains the major source of the water for Pakistan. So even without the strategic-depth idea Kashmir is important.
