Hurjet? Wouldn't the KAAN be making more sense onboard than Hurjet?

Given how we've seen the J-35 on Liaoning (meaning that the J-35 is STOBAR-capable), if KAAN can achieve a favorable T/W ratio, then it should be able to do the same.

Unless, with the Queen Elizabeth-like looks, will Turkiye get her ordered F-35B soon?
Here's why:
As questionable as their plans are, the Navy's plan is to use drones as primary strike aircraft and control them via navalised Hürjets. We don't know what it'll look like, but the chief engineer has once said that the current design is able to take off from the ski jump with a payload of 1-2 tons of munitions. It should also be reminded that Hürjet is primarily a LIFT aircraft, with light combat as the secondary envisaged role. There are also serious doubts whether the US would keep supplying engines for armed Hürjets (including naval aircraft), hence many state the need to significantly redesign the aircraft, i.e. change the engine config from a single F404 to twin indigenous TF10000.

Honestly this whole situation reg. arming and/or navalising Hürjet reminds me a whole lot of Tejas and TEDBF. Though Turkey doesn't have any other option since every sensible source of fighter aircraft for Turkey either denies a sale or can't sell aircraft due to several political and military reasons.

They never ordered F-35B. It was expected to be ordered because of the ski ramp on the Anadolu. Who knows what the future will hold.
Well, I believe they were about to. The Navy had even begun to select pilots and train them by the time Turkey got kicked out.

But, this would've required additional modifications on the Anadolu LHD, such as the coating and whatnot.

“TF6000 IN ITS FINAL STAGE”

Akşit continued his words, “Our TF6000 engine is now in its final stage. I won't give a date right now, but a serious workload is over. We can say that we have now reached the testing phase. I hope you will hear it soon. In addition, we made the first export of our PD170 engine.”

Message from ASELSAN to Canada: Our camera is better

ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol made special statements to the press at the Global Strategies Conference in Defense and Aviation Industry held in Antalya.

Akyol noted that ASELSAN's export figure per kg in 2023 will exceed 2,000 dollars.

“Turkey's 2023 defense export amount per kg is 65 dollars. "Exports per kg for ASELSAN in 2023 have exceeded 2,000 dollars."

Tank modernization to Chile
Akyol announced that ASELSAN signed a very high tank modernization project in Chile and that ASELSAN will modernize Chile's German Leopard tanks.

“We signed a very large tank modernization project in Chile, in South America, which is at the other end of the world. ASELSAN is modernizing Chile's German Leopard tanks. We also plan to expand this with new developments here.”

He also stated that an air defense system export contract was signed to the Philippines in the Far East.

ASELSAN's global presence
Stating that ASELSAN currently has factories, design centers and offices in 14 different countries, Akyol stated that they exported to 4 new countries this year and increased the number of countries to which ASELSAN exports to 86. He also stated that they exported 21 products for the first time.

New contracts with Romania
Akyol said that they will have very important guests with Romania during the week and that they will sign some contracts.

AKKOR and PULAT Active Protection Systems
Emphasizing that the AKKOR and PULAT active protection systems developed against missile launches were installed on the first 2 ALTAY tanks and that they have a technology that is available in only a handful of countries in the world, Akyol said that they also used these systems in modernization.

All 3 tank schools are ok
Stating that there are three tank schools in the world (German, Russian and American) and that they, as ASELSAN, have achieved the ability to modernize all of them, Akyol explained that their next target will be unmanned towers and more competent self-protection systems.

Lifting the Canadian embargo
Stating that they developed CATS after Canada's unfair embargo and that the number of exported countries has exceeded 10 so far, Akyol said that the number of CATS cameras delivered has exceeded 178.

Camera message to Canada
Emphasizing that ASELFLIR-500 performs 20-30% better than its counterparts in every channel and has achieved a very sensitive capability in terms of laser marking range, Akyol stated that the system has entered mass production and will reach its first users soon.

“It has now been accepted by all our users that ASELFLIR-500 performs 20-30% better than its counterparts in every channel. The laser has reached a very precise capability in terms of pointing range. We have the opportunity to target from a distance and with more precision. It has entered mass production and will soon reach its first users from the factory.

As for the embargo: It is a good step that Canada, as our NATO ally, has lifted the embargo. But we are happy and pleased that he put this embargo until today and brought us this technology.

From now on, let me say this: Our camera is better. It is ready to serve everyone, especially Canada. "This is the level we have reached."

ASELFLIR-600 is coming
Explaining that ASELFLIR-600 will be flown this year and TOYGUN, which is a higher technology, will be provided to Turkish security forces, Akyol said that the team making the camera has been working for 3 years without seeing a Saturday or Sunday and that there is a great sacrifice and engineering behind it.

“ASELFLIR-600, which is even better, is also coming. We will also fly ASELFLIR-600 this year.

Then, we are working to provide Turkish security forces with a higher technology that will serve KIZILELMA, ANKA-3 and KAAN, which we call TOYGUN.

Our camera crew hasn't seen any Saturdays or Sundays in 3 years. They continued to work together every night. It is the same today. Our friends continue to work, even staying away from their homes and children. “There is a great sacrifice and engineering behind it.”

Radars
Stating that there will be good news about the radar soon and that it will be shared in the coming days, Akyol said that the KORKUT air defense system has been used successfully by the Turkish Army and its export to allied countries is also being discussed.

Air defense systems
“KORKUT air defense system is used successfully by the Turkish Army. We received positive feedback. Exports are also being discussed with allied countries. “There are signed contracts and studies.”

Akyol said that they are working with ROKETSAN to extend the range of the HİSAR-O+ missile. He stated that the system is in mass production and that they are trying to improve its high altitude performance.

“We are working with ROKETSAN to further extend the range of the missile with HİSAR-O+. The system is again in mass production. “We are also trying to improve the high altitude a little more.”

SIPER delivery
Emphasizing that the radar performance of the SİPER air defense system is very impressive and that the developed missile provides significant effectiveness, Akyol said that the seeker head also makes a difference.

He announced that the system's acceptance tests are continuing and will be delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces in the first half of 2024.

Akyol stated that Block-2 and Block-3 versions of SİPER will also be developed and improvements will be made to the radars.

Hybrid Air Defense System (Gürz)
Akyol also announced that they started to develop a hybrid air defense system together with the SSB in line with the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces.

He said that the system will bring together mobility and multiple interceptors on a single platform, that its radars are very sensitive and can fire particle ammunition at the same time, and that it has electronic warfare systems.

Akyol stated that the hybrid air defense system will be introduced to Turkish security forces within 2-3 years.

I hope to wake up to good news tomorrow.
I wouldn't deprive myself from sleep if I were you. It should happen till March so we still have a large window.

They still missed their target by 3 months though, they should either stop putting their workers under a lot of time preassure or stop overpromising and be less transparent to provide the people a more relaxed environment. Afterall these are the people who don't go home to their children just so that this thing can be developed without a major hurdle.

Remember the article about the chief engineer of Hürjet having a little son who awaits for his mother to come home from work. These are the kind of sacrifices they make.
