The question is, how long he will be allowed to be in power .

I feel the US doesn't like that type of leader and sooner or later, may plan his downfall or next election

Don't forget, even with the enactment of martial law, the PPP still got like 40% of the vote.
Well, even if Lee loses power, I don’t think it will be because of US Machinations. It will mostly be because of South Koreas own internal political issues. South Korea has had several leaders this past years who have been controversial and thus removed from office . It has little to do with the US, it’s more of internal issues and unstable political landscape, same thing in Japan who had like 4 leaders in 3 years. Very little to do with the US, they are all due to internal politics and domestic policies. ALWAYS KEEP IN MIND THAT HUMAN BEINGS AROUND THE GLOBE IN EVERY COUNTRY(THOSE ALLOWED TO VOTE ANYWAY) ALWAYS PRIORITIZE THEIR DOMESTIC/LOCAL ISSUES WHEN VOTING A LEADER OR REPRESENTATIVE IN OFFICE, FORIEGN POLICY HAS LITTLE TO NO BEARING ON THOSE. So foreign policy is secondary . So don’t read much into that.

I never knew Cambodia was so pro US? Wasn't these the same monks that protested against china a while back?

I mean china doesnt care for the optics on the surface credit, but maybe they should a little?

Or is this overture to trump an attempt I try and decrease tariffs and save it's garment sector ? US buys 40% of Cambodian exports

That's what happens when Asians are taught to respect authority no matter what. That's why Trump is so appealing to many Asians. And who looks like an authority figure more than most? The ones that are most bombastic and arrogant. Ironic because those characteristic are supposedly what spurns Asians in other Asians. That's how it started. An authoritarian tells everyone it's important to respect authority no matter what which means obeying the one who has the most power which is usually themselves. They want everyone in a contest of sucking up to them where selfishness comes in and that's where everyone has to think for themselves or get left behind. That's why Asians have sycophantic tendencies. They only care about themselves and don't care how it's perceived by others because that's the only way they're going to get more than everyone else. The authoritarian promotes that because everyone's attention is away from what they're doing and are instead on those that are in competition in getting what they want personally.

Sounds like white Christian nationalist to me. Only the white dictator always says that they have the approval from "God".

Well, those wealthy or upper middle class families in developing countries will still sacrifice everything to send their kids in us universities for study. You will be surprised how many will still do that. lol
But those kids are usually stupid and useless other than being a large consumer of goods and services. They usually go to arts design schools (Savannah College of Art and Design is known as a favorite destination useless rich stupid Chinese kids in Atlanta) or study non-STEM subjects. The massive STEM talent that lifts a nation generally resides in people who do not have $50K to throw down; they pave their paths with merit scholarships.

Agree. Well, that means China still has space to grow then. I'm sure if the country keeps its current trajectory of growth, you wont be seeing as many chinese dreaming of only studying in US university as the standard and best way to a better future. China should have built enough of world class universities, education system and advancement/leading in almost every sector that it will be students from all around the world making sacrfices to study in China. Well that should be the objective this coming decades.
