Tesla definitely lost its crown. Level 2 autonomous driving at best.
That might be true but it is still the best answer the US has. Amazon’s and google’s solutions haven’t really been going anywhere. I am not sure of other US autonomous driving solutions so I could be wrong on this.
Only area Elon is at the forefront is SpaceX.
That’s fair, but then what else can they trouble him with?

Google's solution is the best performing though. Waymo is the quiet winner. 1 million rides a week. It's the most formidable competitor in this sector.

Since when did Trump ever think twice about the potential fallout of his policies?

Was this before or after Trump decided 145% tariffs on Chinese goods would be good for the American economy?

So you're telling us Trump's re-industrialization efforts actually, at least for now, still have a chance of succeeding?
Trump's short term real estate mentality falls short for manufacturing. Ren Yi goes over that in April.

I see your point, just that, with the Chinese he has been working on the assumption that they will cave.

In this case it would be on their home soil and the other tycoons will be looking at this situation as well, along with republicans whom are mostly businessmen as well.
So you're telling us Trump's re-industrialization efforts actually, at least for now, still have a chance of succeeding?
Nope, I don’t think there is a chance in hell of it actually succeeding, but it’s still not at the point of an impossibility. This move will make it a firm impossibility, that’s all.

Trump tweet. Chinese and US representatives meeting in London on Monday.

I am pleased to announce that Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, and United States Trade Representative, Ambassador Jamieson Greer, will be meeting in London on Monday, June 9, 2025, with Representatives of China, with reference to the Trade Deal. The meeting should go very well. Thank you for your attention to this matter

This might surprise you, but members of the American billionaire class tend to support Democrats over Republicans.

When Elon Musk first emerged as a supporter of Trump, he was very much shunned by Silicon Valley for it. Mark Zuckerberg didn't "kiss the ring" until after Trump was re-elected in November 2024. Jeff Bezos owns the Washington Post, which of all the major American newspapers, has been Trump's toughest critic since his first term.

If the Trump administration was to seize control of SpaceX, Musk might get wiped out, but that doesn't mean any other shareholder, big or small, will necessarily get burned.

In fact, from the perspective of a shareholder, especially an institutional investor, it's normal, if not good business to remove CEOs who upset regulators and customers simultaneously, and Trump represents both categories.
