Because Trump's strengthening of power is coming at the expense of the institutions the helped build the US into a post World War II power. While many will argue that elements of the Federal government are dysfunctional, you don't go about reforming those dysfunctional elements by smashing everything with a hammer with no replacement in mind.

FDR didn't centralize power to benefit himself, power was centralized around him due to circumstances of the time and he arguably used those historically significant times to make the country better for the future.

Trump and co aren't doing anything like that. They are chasing shadows (e.x. DEI), settling political or personal vendettas by absolutely abusing the power of the executive office sometimes in direct conflict with the Constitution.

Finally, yes the separation of powers are vital to the functioning any democracy. If you don't have clearly defined roles and responsibilities that separate the Executive, Judiciary and Legislative branches of government you run the risk of concentrating power with a single group or individual. That is a disastrous system to run on.
Exactly. One point I forgot to add is Trump's habit and tendency to micromanage.

What's wrong with strengthening the president's power? You don't actually believe all that separation of powers theory with do you? It's universally recognized that the US political system is dysfunctional today, the checks and balance bullshit is part of the problem.

If Trump wants to do great reforms, he has to centralize power, this has been repeated many times throughout US history e.g., Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, FDR.
Almost every country follows unitary legislature theory and has political heads as members of legislative.

Dam Trump is really going on him. If Zelensky mocks him one more time, US might actually bomb Ukraine lmao

"It was at that time I flew over Ukraine for the first time in a Western fighter jet"

- "And what did you do grandpa, did you shot down these pesky bear jets?"

"No my good grandson, we joined hands with our Russian comrades and performed SEAD operations against Ukraine defences. Proudest and most historic moment, for which I gained a medal from Commander in Chief Mr. Trump himself!"

- "Woah grandpa, you are a war hero, fighting for freedom of minerals then! Thanks grandpa I will tell your story to my class tomorrow! Lets keep fighting for more freedom of minerals all over the world along with our dear bear friends!!"

Did Putin sell his theory that Zelenskyy is an illegitimate president due to not holding elections during his conversation with him?
And he bought it.
LMFAO
I fully believe Putin has some serious stuff on Trump.

Seriously, imagine if Trump was a Putin's agent. What different actions would he take that he doesn't take now?

Like literally every single thing he does, is in Russia's interests. Amazing

Trump's had 100s of scandals that were supposed to end his political career but he has only emerged stronger. Realistically, there's nothing Putin can have that can even scratch Trump at this point.
I actually think the simplest explanation is that it's a self fulfilling prophecy: Trump's enemies call him a Russian/Putin sympathizer, and given Trump's personality, it forces him to double down and develop genuine sympathy towards Russia/Putin.

I mean Trump is right though, Zelensky is a dictator. Russia had election during the war, why couldn't Ukraine? Zelensky was always the fall guy from the beginning, it was just a matter of how much the US can pillage from Europe before choosing to end the war.
