The problem is that only one of these two parties wants to settle the border through negotiation, and only one of the two cares about looking like a mature power. It'd be very easy for China to give up claims to Arundachal Pradesh, but I don't think that India can do so for Aksai Chin. I suspect that they won't even start up formal discussions over the subject.
I haven’t seen anything so far that shows it’s only one side that doesn’t wanna negotiate.

Really? Pry tell what have you seen that says otherwise? It is well documented that China previously was willing to compromise and offer AP to India but India rejected.
From what I know(that’s if it’s even true) that was a rumor which was made unofficially long ago during Mao’s era in the 50s (none of us on here were even born on then. lol ) when India’s political landscape was much different after independence. .Things have changed a lot since then. If anything India also wants a peaceful resolved border with China, they know they are the weaker side. I don’t think they will be against formalizing the current status quo. I think the issue will be on demarcating the border line where each side actually holds ground(the problem is that there is not a fixed line hold by either side and recognized as such ).
from modi’s last interview he himself said the border issue being resolved is crucial for India/China relations to be fully normalized and even deepened to a strategic level.

india and China must urgently address their border disputes to improve bilateral relations, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said.
"I hope and believe that through positive and constructive bilateral engagement at the diplomatic and military levels, we will be able to restore and sustain peace and tranquillity at our borders.
"It is my belief that we need to urgently address the prolonged situation on our borders so that the abnormality in our bilateral interactions can be put behind us," he said.

Anyway, its good thag both sides have resumed relstions and remove some.restrictions that was placed on each other, and restarted border negotiations. Let's hope something concrete will finally come from the border negotiations between both sides.Afterall, there are no permanent friends or enemies only permanent interests.

I see but you have heard of it. We have heard of it as well. But have you ever heard India offer something similar ?

What you think doesn't matter. It's what they think, and from India's current political and discourse climate, they don't see themselves as the weaker party. If they are truly eager to compromise, why not say they are willing to take the status quo or offer to give and take? But instead we only hear them say they want to take back all those territories promised them by the British

Words are cheap. It's action that counts.
