The U.S. has held back from imposing secondary sanctions on China over its support for Russia’s war on Ukraine because broader trade negotiations are continuing, the U.S.’s envoy to NATO said Sept. 2. President Donald Trump has threatened to slap sanctions on buyers of Russian oil unless an agreement between Kyiv and Moscow can be reached to end the conflict that’s now well into its fourth year. So far the White House has only imposed the tariffs on India over its purchases of Russian crude, but not China.

“President Trump has not put tariffs on China because those negotiations are ongoing. And the war in Ukraine is certainly part of that discussion,” U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker told Bloomberg in an interview in Bled, Slovenia.

Frankly it still remains to be seen regarding India but it's fun reading this kind of stuff. I remember the good ole days when the US would cry about China just conducting a military exercise before China's news toys it has now. It was when the Pentagon joked that China invading Taiwan would be just a million man swim. While of course the US could have any military exercise at all. So it would be not surprising that Trump is upset at Putin and Modi holding hands.

Saw a Youtube video that claimed that Trump tried to phone Modi four times after that tariff spat and the Indian side never answered.

I forget who said that now, but it was someone serious, so I believe it.

Something very significant and serious could have happened.

A lot of Indian commentators seem to be stuck in the past, claiming things will revert back and this is only temporary. Seems to me they are scum, those Indian media work for CIA and not India's interests.

I read that story too but also I read JD Vance was also trying to reach Modi with no answer. Those might be the same calls they're talking about because that would make Trump look weak if he was trying play phone tag.
