The children are participating in the Kids Camp Deployment, a program sponsored by the Fleet and Family Support Center and the Child and Youth Program, which is designed to give military children a chance to experience what life is like when their parents go on a deployment. The burning fuselage of an F/A-18 Hornet lies smoldering after crashing into a residential building in Virginia Beach, Va. , Friday, April 6, 2012. The Navy did not immediately return telephone messages left by The Associated Press, but media reports indicate the two aviators were able to eject from the jet before it crashed. They were being treated for injuries that were not considered life threatening.

(April 6, 2012)Firefighters from the Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Fire & Emergency Services and City of Virginia Beach respond to the crash of an F/A-18D Hornet assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 106, April 6, 2012. Initial reports indicate that at approximately 12:05 p.m., the jet crashed just after takeoff at an apartment complex in Virginia Beach. Both air crew safely ejected from the aircraft and are being treated at a local hospital.

Yes it was! And I still get paid monthly....retired pay that is...:p I visited many places while serving aboard a ship with the USN..

Ireland, Spain, Italy, Monaco, Turkey, Greece, Egypt, Bahrain, UAE, Diego Garcia(BIOT), Singapore,Hong Kong, Australia, Philippines, Thailand, Okinawa, Japan, S.Korea. US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Guam, Hawaii, Alaska....and 25 other US states.. It was all well worth it.

I was just looking up Norfolk naval base on google map, and found out that if you zoom right in they show you an area shot of the base and ships at an angle, so it looks 3D, and the images are pretty crisp by google map standards, it was quite interesting.

USN is not shy about showing off its wares.
