OT,,, and I thought she was headed to Ferguson, Mo.???????

I was about 5-10 miles from there this morning, delivering 11 new Cop Rods to a neighboring PD, not a clue that the zoo was just down the road, everyone was kool, and the local PD were relaxed and friendly.

I would say she is very well armed, bd do they engage in live fire off the deck or is it just weapon handling training, all A-2 configuration, no flat tops.....
Not all some are A4's you can see a few railed handguards, it's just that the Navy feels little need to issue Aimpoints, ACOGs and Eotechs. instead there are plenty of spare carry handles that are cheap as dirt.

It's been over a decade since I last fired one of them M-16A2.
The Navy normally comes in last placee fore small arms priority followed by the National Guard.
They do M16 rifle quals in the Navy off decks and use live rounds.

qaFIKaV.jpg
I have seen pictures of Quals on Smaller ships. they float barrels and shoot form the deck.
I bet brass detail is VERY important after the firing is over, don't want any single one of them getting sucked into by the choppers coming in for a landing.;)
Absolutely. on a carrier the issue is bigger If the navy though they could do it they would probubly push for caseless

California Dreamin! I spent little time in the Monterey/Seaside area a little farther North...

Well I'm actually humming that beautiful OTIS REDDING tune.

I cannot pass this by.. Otis Redding was one of the greatest soul singers of all time...when we are long dead an buried this tune will still be playing somewhere on this planet..

Otis Redding died in a plane crash at the young age of 26 on December 10th 1967.

After appearing at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival Redding wrote and recorded the iconic "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" with Steve Cropper. The song became the first posthumous number-one record on both the Billboard Hot 100 and R&B charts after his death in a plane crash. The Dock of the Bay became the first posthumous album to reach number one on the UK Albums Chart.

It is incredible that an unmanned aircraft can take off and land on a carrier. This is like looking at those old photographs of biplanes being catapulted off battlewagons. These aircraft are in their infancy and will develop quickly into other types of aircraft for high risk missions. The next couple of decades will bring many changes in military aviation as we know it.

I will now get back to bottling my Malbec
