(I don't know if this against the rules and please warn me if it is but i think this is quite a big of a deal and possibly a huge blow to Russian side)

It seems Russian S-300 missile system has been destroyed by HIMARS in Kherson area, though the Russian claimed it was only a dummy model of
S-300 to bait HIMARS out to reveal its location

It is rather looking that this is part of the Ukrainian SOF debacle that led to Ukrainian Intelligence Services giving the Russians the positions of Ukrainian Air Defence facility locations, in the belief that they were talking to a Russian Air Force pilot who was willing to defect with a military aircraft.

The positions of Air Defence in the South of Ukraine were specifically mentioned and we are told that the Russians acted on the information and attacked the AD systems. Pictures of destroyed S-300's and the news of an ongoing purge of the leadership of the Ukrainian Intelligence Services can hardly be a coincidence.

Blurry shots taken from the Russian side? Same with that other phase array. Are you familiar that fake radar installations are a real thing and deployed as decoys? Sharp enough to assume it's an S-300 but too blurry to prevent you from telling apart the real thing from a fake. Too convenient. It seems they the Russians want you to believe an S-300 is destroyed for their own sneaky tactical reasons.

I want to add that this is a PLA example of a dummy radar. This is not to mention the PLA's inflatable balloon army you can occasionally find in the Army threads. Its something to keep in mind when there are reports of radar and SAM installation kills, regardless of which side.

A curious question, can a dummy radar transmit radar waves to attract anti-radiation missiles?

Doesn't really matter, the continously working radars use long wave emission, that can't be targeted by anti rad missiles, the targeting radars become active only if there is a threatdetected.

Means only way to "see" the real radars if there is a credible decoy, capable to fool the long wave radar to power on the targeting radars.

But to avoid this issue the long wave radars has buddy short and X wave radars as well for airspace monitoring, means they can credibly identify the decoys as well.

Credible killing is when you see the burning canisters .

If there is same fire around the launcher, but the canisters didn't exploded/buringin then it is more likelly just a decoy.
