The War in the Ukraine

Oh it was for sure staged for the cameras, and pretty badly so. I expect they slapped on a c4/semtex charge and expected only a little boom but ended up needing medical treatment most likely.

But it doesn’t change the fact it’s another Ukrainian S300 down.
It is not staged, they found the TEL, and blasted it, if they prepare it ahead then keep safe distance from the missiles.

If they have time then just drive the TEL back home with the missiles, it represents value.

I find the destruction of this particular S-300 to be suspicious,
It look seems pretty staged and this is probably just an abandoned broken down S-300...

Abandoned or not, if left alone it could be recovered and reused by the Ukrainians. A bigger question if you ask me is how far from the Russian lines this happened. If it was close to the frontline, they could attempt to drag it back to a repair depot. Have Russian forces infiltrated so deep into Ukraine that they are able to hunt long-range SAM sites?

What about posturing at Bakhmut with a massive artillery barrage as a feint for an offensive to roll up Ukrainian lines in the countryside close to Kherson or Zaporizhzhia? The next offensive doesn't necessarily need to be in the Donbass because it is known that AFU is going to deploy there to blunt Russian momentum, and thus leave other territories open in terms of armor and artillery. Land grabbing small towns far from Donbass in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia pressures Ukrainians while remaining close to supply lines from Crimea.
It has been shown from the beginning of the war that Ukraine knowing its weakness in the open choose to hold on to well fortified positions. Large scale mobile warfare isn't going to happen.

People have been suggesting "围点打援" (encircle a spot and attack the reinforcement), but all what we see is more of "结硬寨打呆仗" (fortify and fight inch by inch). It is a conscious choice by Ukraine and Russia can not "convince" Ukraine to change.
