The War in the Ukraine

here is an image collage of foreign merceneries sharing their experiences for being volunteers.

That could explain why the posts in the subreddit dedicated to recruiting people has been rather dead the past few days, other than a mod telling people Ukraine hasn't lost yet and to pressure european countries to send all their stockpiles of ATGMs while gloating that Denmark lossing half of them in the war is some sort of achievement.

On the other hand, these veterans look as professional as Al-Qaeda.

Frankly, it is abysmal showing by RuAF that there are still UAF planes flying

Serbia managed to keeps its Air Force flying while facing NATO, and they managed to do more damage than Ukraine has, too.

A grim report on the increasingly desperate situation Ukranian troops find themselves in the Donbass. The war of the last 2 months has been likened to artillery ping-pong where most battles take place beyond human sight. Interestingly, Ukrainians describe Western artillery as on order of magnitude more accurate than the Soviet era weapons they replaced.

“The more pressing shortfalls, Tarnavskiy told me, are of experience and skill. “A lot of regular military personnel have been killed,” he said. “They are replaced by doctors and mechanics. We have manpower, but much of this core”—those with combat experience who could lead and motivate new recruits—“is either dead or wounded.”

“ I asked Honcharenko how long it might take for Russian forces to reach the city [Kramatorsk] “We shouldn’t expect any miracles,” he told me. “It’s clear that the longer this goes on, the more territory Russia will gain.” His voice was both jovial and grave. “Let me give you my professional opinion as mayor: if we don’t get heavy weapons in two or three weeks, we’re fucked.”

given the hallowed status of corruption and self-dealing in Ukrainian society and government, it seems very unlikely to me that Ukraine will be able to retain a unified functional command or cohesive governing organizations if the war were to go badly, attended with large territory loses and the possibility of reckoning either at the hands of the russians or at the hands of both disgruntled populous or domestic opportunist looking for the main chance.

So Zelensky will not be in any position to lead the country to the last, unless he was to abandon his post to fight as infantry. Nor would he be held responsible for missteps because no doubt when the central authority collapses, one of the fractions would coalesce around him.

The most likely outcome is he will remain a figure head of one of several fractions that will emerge in ukraine in the aftermath of the war. If the russian are successful on their current strategy, then most likely these fractions will be headed to a civil war in ukraine in the aftermath of ceasefire with the russians.

I suspect a significant amount of NATO weapons being supplied to ukraine are not being brought to the front because they are being privately horded by those who are looking ahead to back up their perspective claims to postwar power in what remains of ukraine with armed force.

I am pretty sure the Russians are shrewd enough to see this and are cultivating their champions in postwar Ukraine even now.

Now that you mention it, that makes an awful lot of sense. And it's going to be even more terrible, and a big chunk of those weapons will also find their way into western europe
