The War in the Ukraine

What's interesting about the Ukrainian admission of "up to" 200 dead a day is how close it is to the Russian estimates. There hasn't been an increase in what the Russians have been claiming, they've been consistently saying around 300 Ukrainian soldiers for the past 2 months. Until now the claims were 10-100x what the other side was reporting.

In other words mass artillery still wins wars.
I don't know how much stock we should put into Guardian's 600-1000 losses a day figure, but this also happened today:
That certainly doesn't seem like a country with 700,000 strong reserve already mobilized.
No sexist comments please.

The better thing for Zelensky to do is to hold foreign merceneries to their contract and stop them from deserting whenever they feel like it. I'd also remove the requirement to have military experience, turning away young fighting age males at the border was another dumb decision in hindsight.

In fact, I'd launch another recruitment drive. Stop admitting there has been such heavy casualties, just announce the counteroffensive to retake Kherson is in it's final stages, and foreign volunteers are needed to share the glory. No military experience needed.

Does the loss include only the dead or does it include wounded and captured?

Oleksiy Arestovych, a high-profile Ukrainian military analyst and presidential adviser, said “up to 150 troops a day were being killed and 800 wounded”.

theguardian.com/world/2022/jun/08/ukraine-and-russia-compete-to-be-last-army-standing-as-donbas-deaths-mount

That is almost 1000 casualties per day

Yeah, it doesn't make sense. On one end, the majority of Ukranian refugees are women, so you don't have that many to begin with for it to make it a reliable source of replacement troops, on the other hand, it will likely cause an outrage internationally if you single them out.

Then again, the Ukranian government has made some questionable strategic and tactical choices just for likes, retweets and upvotes, so it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibilities they eventually do something like this.

A fragment of the battle of Russian special forces in Ukraine against a company of the 63rd brigade of the armed forces of Ukraine in the Nikolaev-Kherson direction has been published. In the video, you can see that one Ukrainian soldier surrenders and asks to stop shooting. As a result of the battle with the Russian special forces, ninety Ukrainian soldiers from the company of the 63rd brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were killed, some of the results of the battle are shown at the end of the video.
