More footage has been published of the attack of the Russian FPV drone "Prince Vandal Novgorodsky" on the Ukrainian tank "Leopard-2A6", made in Germany. The Leopard 2A6 tank began to be produced in Germany in 1997. Ukraine received 18 Leopard 2A6 tanks from Germany and 3 tanks from Portugal. According to some estimates, 11 Leopard-2A6 tanks have been destroyed so far. In Ukraine, the Leopard-2A6 tank was modified by installing Soviet dynamic protection "Kontakt-1". The video was filmed in the Kursk region of Russia near the village of Darino. The Leopard 2A6 tank was attacked by several Vandal drones, the crew abandoned the damaged tank

Ukrainian excavator knocked out by FPV drones. Excavators are used to make trenches in a hurry, making them priority targets. It's one thing I'd the excavator was attacked by a Lancet which points to the front still being some distance away, the maximum range of a Lancet being 40km for the X-52 but 70km for X-51. But a FPV drone has an effective range of only 5-10km. An attack by an FPV drone points that the front is much closer than what it's formally admitted, or there are holes which Russian DRGs penetrate to launch drone attacks.

Most of it is open fields... Hard to take back rapidly without heavy losses by the Russian but reinforcing it or retreating is also very hard without heavy losses by the Ukrainian.

It will keep going until losses are too great and in that war it could be quite impressive.
Russians have allowed Ukrainians to rapidly retreat across open roads and fields before. Kursk might be different, but I don't think that the potential difficult of retreat is what's keeping Ukrainians in Kursk.

I can't even imagine the reason for why Ukraine insists on burning their best troops in Kursk.

Clearly don't know. The Kursk NPP was a prime target when it was seen as possible to get it but that time is well passed.

With Ukraine using their best troops there, Russia will not allow them a free pass back to Ukraine. Russian have full artillery coverage of that pocket. It's just insane to poor more.

It’s less that Russian allowed Ukrainian troops to retreat unmolested and more they don’t have the kind of persistent, survivable and redundant ISR to allow them to detect the retreat in time to make effective attempts at interdiction. The Russians have happily shelled fleeing Ukrainians with abandon whenever they detect them.

As for Kursk, that has always been a political decision and continues to be so. It’s part building begging chips to Zelensky to ask for more NATO aid and part of their farcical negotiations plan where they think they can get a better deal out of Russia if they had some Russian territory to trade. The central question of why Russia would be interested in negotiating when they are winning harder and harder on the battlefield is never addressed at all.

For what I have seen on videos and weather previsions, they didn't have a big autumn mud season this year from lacks of precipitations.

No big precipitations in the next 14 days, only about 3-4mm at all. Action will not be stranded until frozen ground it seems.

Totally agree. Why negotiate? Russia is winning. In addition to its technical superiority, Russia also has absolutely zero regard for the number of casualties it takes. Massive advantage and will eventually help Russia take all of Ukraine irrespective of the human cost. Trump, who talks tough but who is weak, would never dare escalate things to a point where Putin will blink.
