The War in the Ukraine

I think this photo can be destined to historic iconic status over the long term. Too bad the guy who owned the Go Pro that shot this, well this might have been his final picture.
I think I saw the footage of the observing UAV and the strike didn't kill as many as the image would imply as the Lancet used was the HEAT warhead version, and the guys on the launcher on the left were alive after the strike. So the guy recording it might be alive with some injuries.

Good for him. He deserves credit for this photo.

Unusual blue on blue incident. Ukrainian Grad MLRS fired on a building in Krasnoliman with 30 foreign mercenaries with 5 members of the SBU and killing all of them. Later, Ukrainians entered a hospital and killed four wounded mercenaries. The Ukrainians had developed a strong beef with the mercs over repeated arguments.

Perfect interception of Russian X-101 cruise missiles by the Ukrainian electric grid at Rivne.

This is where one of the main power generation facilities in Ukraine, the Rivne nuclear power plant, is located.

The Russians aimed at the electric substation there which connects the nuclear power plant to the grid.

North Korea May End Up Sending Putin 100,000 Troops for His War

  • Move not imminent, troops could rotate in batches, people say
  • Ukraine’s allies worried about deepening Putin-Kim accord
Ukraine’s ambassador to South Korea made a similar assessment earlier this month. Dmytro Ponomarenko said in

with VOA that Kyiv expected up to 15,000 North Korean troops deployed to fight in Russia’s Kursk region – and possibly in occupied areas of eastern Ukraine – to rotate every few months.

in August. In return, Russia is providing money and helping North Korea increase its capabilities.

As well as manpower, North Korea has also sent millions of rounds of artillery ammunition and other weapons to Russia. The Financial Times reported this week, citing Ukrainian intelligence, that Pyongyang has supplied Moscow with long-range rocket and artillery systems too.

Footage of the strike of the Russian kamikaze drone "Lancet-51" on the Ukrainian light MLRS Sivalka VM-5 in the Kursk region of Russia has been published. The Sivalka VM-5 MLRS is designed to support infantry during offensive operations and is equipped with 12-16 80 mm unguided S-8 aircraft rockets. Initially, the Sivalka VM-5 MLRS was created for special forces of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine. The firing range of the Sivalka VM-5 MLRS is up to 5 km, it can be installed on any chassis, but is usually placed on pickups.
As a result of the strike by the Lancet drone, the Sivalka VM-5 MLRS was damaged, and personnel were also injured.

WASHINGTON, Nov 17 (Reuters) - President Joe Biden's administration has lifted restrictions that had blocked Ukraine from using U.S.-provided weapons to strike deep into Russian territory, said three sources familiar with the matter, in a significant change to U.S. policy in the Ukraine-Russia conflict.
Ukraine plans to conduct its first long-range attacks in the coming days, the sources said, without revealing details due to operational security concerns.
The White House declined to comment.

Biden Allows Ukraine to Strike Russia With Long-Range U.S. Missiles

With two months left in office, the president for the first time authorized the Ukrainian military to use the system known as ATACMS to help defend its forces in the Kursk region of Russia.

The decision comes two months before the handover of power between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, who is suspected of wanting to reduce support for Ukraine.

The decision was expected. The French and British have authorized Ukraine to strike deep into Russian territory with its SCALP/Storm Shadow missiles. Joe Biden, after several months of urgent requests, gave his agreement to Volodomyr Zelensky to use American ATACMS missiles, with a range of 300 kilometers, against Russia, reveals the New York Times . The United States “has given the green light to use long-range missiles,” a US official confirmed to AFP.
It seems that many believe that soon (or already approved) France and the United Kingdom will follow the same path, authorizing the use of their Scalp/Storm Shadow missiles against targets inside Russia.

The war has been going on for 2 1/2 years. Why is Biden only now becoming so bold and no longer afraid of escalations?
