Why should Ukraine promise not to join NATO? Why doesn't NATO just declare not considering to admit Ukraine for 20 years? The US want to be something but at the same time not want to do something.又想做婊子，又想立牌坊。
Besides, cease-fire is not acceptable if NATO continue supplying weapons. Russia's objective is to make Ukraine neutral, with Russia having an upper hand right now, there is no reason to stop. As always the best comparison, Korean ceasefire was reached because both sides reached the max of what they could get from the battel field AND both China and US had boots on the ground. Today, Russia is gaining more and US does not have meaningful boots on the ground, it is far away from ceasefire.
Now I see how the US is building a new defence line (from supposed China/Russia advancement), the democrat pushes every "allies" to the front line, the republican then does the retreat. Repeating couple of times there will be a defence line built with dead bodys of "allies" like sandbags.
Even 20 years is nothing in geopolitics. Putin would have to be the biggest fool alive to take any ceasefire deal when he is literally winning on all fronts on the battlefield. Especially not with Trump winning, since Trump has been abundantly clear that he wants nothing to do with the Ukrainian disaster.
So, Russia is winning on the battlefield; Ukraine’s biggest supporter has changed leadership to one against continued American funding of the war; the Europeans are drained and rapidly going broke; the west has long exhausted its sanctions arsenal against Russia; Russia has already eaten the sunk costs of said sanctions and fully embraced China; the Russian people are still overwhelmingly supportive of the war. There is literally zero reason for Russia to stop the war anytime soon and every reason to go for all of Ukraine. What’s the west going to do to try and stop them that they are not already doing?
The west, after decades of picking on hopelessly outmatched ME and African countries, have developed a perverted, entitled notion that foreign wars stop as soon as they in the west tire of it and want it to stop. I think they are now in for a painful and long overdue reality check on how ridiculous that idea is when their opponent isn’t farmers in sandals with just AKs.
And no, China will not only not do anything to reign Russia in, but will almost certainly give it full support behind the scenes to make this lesson as painful and as memorable as possible for Europe. Because while the NATO Eurotrash leadership idiots and sheeple masses will have conveniently forgotten all about their very recent boasting of broadening NATO’s reach to Asia and all the warships they sent literally around the world to China’s doorstep as crude aping of gunboat diplomacy mafia intimidation tactics, China will most certainly not have forgotten or forgiven them their trespasses, and would be keen to try and teach them this lesson in case they are brain dead enough to think they can try the same shit with China and get to call it a day when they chose if they loose.
