The War in the Ukraine

Shouldn't these soldiers be sent to reinforce the areas that are getting overrun, or at least be sent in the direction of Crimea?

The only way to prevent that from happening would be if Ukrainians have a lot of reserves ready to prevent that, but then one has to ask - why weren't those forces used in the south where everything's started to collapse after Avdeevka? Assuming this is a proper, well planned and prepared offensive action (and not just a PR stunt) then the Ukrainians sacrificed the entire front bursting at the seams in order to open a new one that gets them nothing.

Some speculation people mentioned that it could be related to negotiations. Zelensky has been talking a lot about reaching or talking about a deal before 2024 ends. We already know that the west said they want to improve Ukraine position ahead of negotiations, which the incursion into Kursk could be an attempt to gain leverage. If that is the case, then there may be more Ukrainian attacks coming soon in the future. Depleting their limited resources is hardly going to convince the Russians to negotiate on western terms of surrender.

They are just dumb. 3000-4000 soldiers, regardless of how well equipped they are, they will get wasted going deep into Russia.
Good luck.
What's dumb is for over two years Russia has been at war with its neighbor and #2 land army in the world hasn't secured its borders. Worse than that Russian intel wasn't able to detect a Brigaded size army massing on its border.... not to mention #3 air force in the world hasn't been able to secure its airspace, but yes Ukraine is dumb.

Ukraine seems to be all in on their Kursk offensive. At least a thousand troops are within. At least 315 claim killed by the Russians. There are claims the front has relatively stabilized bu we will see. SAM firings against Ka-52 and Su-34 reported, and Su-35 firing X-31P at radars. Patriot launcher claimed to be hit by two X-51 Lancets, but we will see. X-51 is the long ranged Lancet type vs the shorter ranged more commonly used X-52.
Agriculture MLRS and Malva SPG seen moving into the area, and more Russian units appearing including one brigade of the VDV.

Iskander strikes on Buks reveal there are two of them. One is hit with the regular Iskander M, the other with the cluster warhead Iskander K.

Iskander M hit on a Ukrainian convoy. A number of vehicles seen burning afterwards.

Surely there was some sort of plan. Maybe seizing civilian hostages for negotiation? Or push up so they can get in range of the Kursk NPP?

Some had before complained that Syrski is a commander that just attacks and attacks by throwing numbers without regarding defense or the wellbeing of the troops, this whole op does seem to have that sort of name written all over it.
