The War in the Ukraine

However, that does not at all fit with the raw professional skill and expertise on show when fire was exchanged. The Russians advanced swiftly, decisively and bravely while the 3rd Ukrainian guy was spraying fire at them. They also were very deliberate in wounding him and pinning him with fire as a guy advanced to take him prisoner when a grenade would be been much faster and safer for the Russians.

They also whipped out the body bag unusually swiftly.

Reddit has been using this to claim the ambush is either staged or a friendly fire incident

Yes before you ask diesel engines can in fact run on cooking oil with no issues, so this would work.
There is an issue though. Cooking oil can only be use temporary or for emergency only. With long term use, unburned fuel will clogs up the engine due to its very high viscosity. With time and oxidation, it dries into a very sticky glue. Engine will needs to be modified for long term use.

From the official channel of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation (I use automatic translation from Russian to English):

Fake:
The Russian Armed Forces and the People's Militia of the DPR shelled Donetsk. This is reported by Ukrainian telegram channels.

Truth: The capital of the DPR was fired upon by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We made a map showing that residential buildings and civilian infrastructure of the city were attacked.

A 155-mm gun was fired at Donetsk. In Russia, this caliber is not used, in turn, it is standard for the artillery of NATO countries. According to some reports, Donetsk was attacked from American M777 howitzers. According to other sources, they fired from French CAESAR self-propelled guns.

UNIAN claims that Donetsk was fired upon by the People's Militia, referring to blogger Anatoly Dremov. But this is a fake account with 4 thousand subscribers. Dremov's real account has 46 thousand subscribers.

A video appeared on social networks in which a voiceover claims that "I hear a shot - I hear an arrival" and concludes that they are shooting from the city itself. But only "arrivals" are heard on the video - the author of the video misleads the audience.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And another news from the official channel of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation:

Ukraine's defense in Svyatogorsk collapsed, allied forces of the Russian Federation and the DNR complete the "cleansing" of the city

Abandoned by their commanders, the remnants of the 95th Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the 81st Separate Airborne Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine abandoned military equipment along with weapons and scattered along the coast. Up to 80 Ukrainian fighters swam across the river. Allied forces deliberately did not open fire on them.

Goddamn, how many DJI are being used in this war? Here's your average Russian reconnaissance unit these days:

I like how they got a whole tea set laid out on the table behind them, gives it a real afternoon picnic feel. I wonder what's their setup for charging through all the battery packs for the drones.

The Pzh2000 is such a conspicuous system to be using without air cover of any kind, which makes me think they will be sent to a rather "calm" front where they are less likely to be hit either by Russian CAS or counterbattery fire, and just récord videos for Reddit and Twitter.

The day one of those things gets hit and destroyed will cause osintbros and redditors to blow a gasket, though

ISW is now walking back their statement about Severodonetsk Counterattack. I've long known ISW to be biased towards Ukraine and prone to repeat Ukrainian propaganda but it's good to see them admit to it. I'll put it here in case others are not aware.
Haidai’s June 6 statement marked a significant change in Haidai’s characterization of the situation in Severodonetsk from June 5, in which he stated that Ukrainian counterattacks recaptured half of the city.
Basically they just took their word for it without doing any investigation to confirm.

That's bad... are these people not really have alternative source of intel ? I think an "Institute" should have the resources to get themselves some information/intelligence network to verify claims. More than those "OSINT" accounts in twitterland or other social media.
