The War in the Ukraine

Also seems Russia breached the defenses at New York, one of the areas that had been constantly fortified since 2014, according to the Ukranians
I wouldn't be surprised if the success there were due to Russians being extra determined on this direction before the nATO summit. It might be just symbolic, but at some point someone's going to have to utter the words "New York has fallen into Russian hands". Ukrainians bragged about their meager "successes" of their last year's counteroffensive, it would be weird if Russians didn't use the opportunity to mock them here.

I've noticed the ATACM attacks have dried up a bit. Have they run out of missiles or have the Russians figured out how to counter these things?

I suspect the Ukrainians got an earful from their Western sponsors after they bombed civilians on the beaches of Crimea. Zelensky has been talking about the need for negotiated settlement in recent weeks (a sharp departure from his earlier maximalist rhetoric). The surge of the far-right in Europe, and its more pro-Russian outlook, also means a less favorable external environment for the Ukrainians. Not to mention a potential second Trump presidency.

All in all, I get the sense that the West is quietly trying to force the Ukrainians to accept that they won't win this war, but they also don't want the Kremlin to get everything it wants. How do you accept a defeat in a proxy war while pretending you didn't get defeated? That's essentially the dilemma in D.C. right now.

They won't let the far-right get any significant degree of power. They will just find administrative excuses to ignore the electorate's choice.

They wanted to do the same thing in Afghanistan and we know how that turned out.

I think no morden ballistic missiles are purely ballistic so long as they have active means of changing AoA by measures including fins primarily. When people say the word "ballistic" I assume that they are aware of the "non ballistic" nature. The word "ballistic" is only to distinguish such terminal maneuverable missile from true glider HGV and cruise missiles. I mean nobody would emphasize that Iskander and DF-21D are not ballistic missiles even though they are wellknown to maneuver.
The @Soldier30 categorically stated the ATACMS followed a ballistic trajectory. This leaves no room for interpretation.

Oh, the irony.

It's fairly routine for Ukrainian EW systems to be getting whacked by Lancets, usually the Bukovel AD and the Nota ("Note") variety. Not as ironical as air defense systems or vehicles with Ukrainian UAV operators both getting whacked by Lancets.

I've noticed the ATACM attacks have dried up a bit. Have they run out of missiles or have the Russians figured out how to counter these things?

They might have hit warehouses or depots where the Ukrainians have been storing these things. The Russians might also have done the same for depots of Storm Shadow and SCALP, as I have not heard of them for quite a while now. Can't underestimate Ukrainian moles and partisans working for the Russian side, along with the relentless observation and tracking by Russian UAVs on any warehouse structure used by the Ukrainians.

There was also the rumor that the SCALP-capable Su-24 fleet got decimated.

Footage of the combat work of the Russian T-72B3M tank west of Avdeevka. The modernized T-72B3M tanks appeared in 2022, technical information about it is on the channel. The tank is reported to be firing a 125mm cannon with high-explosive fragmentation shells at a distance of 800 meters, supporting an infantry advance on a Ukrainian army stronghold. Judging by the video, an unknown electronic warfare system is installed on the tank, since Ukrainian FPV drones attacking it do not fire at the tank; this usually rarely happens in combat operations. The video has been shortened.
