The War in the Ukraine

Ukraine has had a string of blunders from avdeevka to chasiv yar to ocheretino, not a good look.

it is interesting that right sector units are being accused of cowardice, they were supposed to be the most hardcore.
Just pure speculation, but the extreme nationalists might have an issue with Syrskyis Russian descent.
Having prospects for assimilation in junior positions is one thing, but as the highest ranking military officer there might be some ideological resentment, leading to paranoia and disobedience.

It's all a moot point anyways because all ground infantry will be meat for the meat grinder.

When they get in a tight spot and start swearing about their commanders it might make a difference whether they have a general respect for these commanders or innate resentment. If the entire group starts going on about how that russki Syrskyi put them there to have them all killed it may become easier to take the decision to abandon the position.

It's all speculation, but when things get psychologically stressful rational thinking can sometimes take the backseat and preconceptions might matter more.
If Zaluzhny puts their battalion in a dangerous spot it might be seen as a confirmation of their elite status, being the backbone of the army. But if the russki Syrskyi makes the same decision it could potentially be seen as putting them in harms way because they are expendable.

They have issues with FABs decimating they numbers. As for Syrsky he just do not keep them as backline reserve like Zaluzniy and actually use them in hot areas, he do have nickname "general 200" for a reason.

They were/are the most ideologically devoted, and considered elites which gave them a lot of autonomy. But that elite status and autonomy is a double edged sword as they see themselves as above the common cannon fodders, so are much more likely to get demoralised and run when ordered to perform cannon fodder tasks and die like common cannon fodder for the greater good as they think they ‘deserve’ better. Same reason why most western volunteers cut and ran as soon as things turned hard.

There is the whole thing about how the far right groupings were more loyal to Zaluzhny, allegedly, than to Ukraine or Zelensky. So it might be also a bit of power play to diminish his influence within the ranks of the AFU.

Bad timing, though, as you need every man you can get your hands on but at some point they might also be more of a hindrance than an asset if their support for Zaluzhny and discontent for his removal supersedes any wish to fight for Ukraine itself.

Deutsche Welle reports on the cannibalization of M777s by Ukrainian soldiers. M777s are maintained by cannibalization, like parts from destroyed M777s, and sometimes the parts of several are reassembled to make a workingvone.

I wonder if Ukraine regrets not taking a peace/ceasefire deal back in early 2023 after their successful counteroffensive and back when Western support was at an all time high. Now Ukraine is clearly on the back foot and western support is waning, I don't think Russia will want a peace/ceasefire deal even if it has highly favorable conditions for Russia.
