With the full video, the crew look to have panicked and fled after crashing. Probably that driver sensors and periscopes were destroyed. We see the tank covering itself with a smoke screen after some ERA ignite and crashed onto a tree. Even the UAV don't look to have totalled the T-90 afterward...
I'm not even sure if the T-90M is disabled but you don't drive hatch open and head out in that situation...

This is what a near-peer war looks like. There are often no zero-risk or zero-loss solutions to problems.
Sure, sending a solo tank gives the tank in question terrible odds of survival. But what is the alternative? Full mechanised formation thunder runs? How many times have we seen those get absolutely slaughtered by heavy enemy defences? Is losing multiple tanks and IFVs and maybe dozens of troops better than loosing a single tank?
Essentially these are calculated and necessary sacrifices for the Russians. The blood price they must pay for intel on enemy defensive strengths and numbers. And before anyone chirps up about superior NATO training and tactics, that’s precisely what Ukraine used during their much hyped Spring-summer great offensive. They didn’t want to pay the blood price and launched full frontal assaults into unknown enemy defences strengths and got destroyed on an industrial scale.
Also, it’s worth noting solo tanks isn’t SOP for the Russians. They sometimes send single IFVs with a squad to check an area out. Sometimes with a tank and a couple of IFVs etc. They are basically making it up as they go along and constantly adjusting their approach based on results and expected opposition. Which is actually exactly what you want from a mature and well led combat force. As soon as you develop a standard script, opfor will be looking to counter it, so it would be stupid and negligent for commanders to keep making the same moves once the enemy has hard countered them. So we have a constant arms race between both sides to find better and less costly ways to make assaults and take ground. The Russians just have a massive advantage since they have more quantity of tools as well as better tools the Ukrainians don’t have access to. But it’s still a real fight, and not your standard NATO gang-beating a helpless victim without the strength or means to fight back, so the Russians bleed for what they take.
