The War in the Ukraine

One account I read claims that Ukraine used a combination of a dozen S-200 repurposed into ballistic missiles (600km range) as decoys, plus US supplied ADM-160 MALD and a small number of SCALP missiles to strike the intended targets in Sevastopol. In addition to all of this, Ukraine allegedly flew SEAD aircraft armed with HARMs to take out several Russian radars that revealed their position while tracking the decoy missiles. And lastly, at the same time they used unmanned sea drones to sow further confusion and pressure on Russian defenses.

If true, it’s almost incredible that Ukraine was able to pull off this level of coordination.

According to RUSI, Russian artillery has the best in class reaction time when working with counterbattery radar and spotter UAVs, with a reaction time of three minutes instead of 30. It should be noted that the travel time of a 155mm shell at 25km takes around 75 seconds, according to the authors. From the British Royal Institute of Joint Services.

If they have done all that to damage two old ships in repairs... it's a waste of ressources. Would have been way better to do all that to destroy a better and active target. That would be a a lot of stuff used on assets that are not influencing the course of the war.

Only thing that would make sense military would be the presence of nuclear tipped torpedo on tha kilo and the hope to set them up.

It is a joke that they downplay military importance to a clean attack against a real military strategic objective, something very Russian propaganda.

The missile attack not only destroyed two ships at a cost of millions of dollars, but also caused damage to a Russian military infrastructure, which is also the largest in Sevastopol, in addition to destroying important defense systems for the region.

If you don't understand objectives at an operational and strategic level, then settle for Tam's publications, which are only routine combat outlines, maximum at a tactical level.

Hyping the importance of destruction of something not involved in war while actively dismissing the active destruction of combat vehicles is either deliberate perfidiousness or outright mental retardation. Its like if in the middle of a car race I set fire to an old garage and somehow claim this will help me win the race because the gas i used to set the fire cost less than the garage, then claim that this was strategic and driving faster is only tactical.

Yeah, it seems kind of weird to risk these ships in the open. I am guessing that moving them wasn't an option in this case?

Alternatively, there could just be a communication breakdown between various levels of government along with incompetence which is driving these mistakes.

The loss of these boats isn't crippling, but it does seem unnecessary.
I think it allow Ukraine to add on their paper tally, billions of damage inflicted on Russia, at minimal losses. At the end of the day, it's propaganda win for Ukraine.

Ukraine's minerals and fertile soil would help the debt it's a mini Siberia worth trillions, Still Russia's performance is laughable at best this was supposed to be one week to capture Kiev and one Month for whole of Ukraine, Now it's Vietnam 2.0

precisely, boasting videos of tank destruction, as a great achievement, and downplaying a strategic objective, is wasting neurons

If you want to talk about lost tanks, then you have to say, then I would have to waste 3000 pages of the forum, bringing videos of destroyed Russian tanks.... everyone who knows what a war is, can understand that equipment is lost, the Fights and battles will always occur... you must review your level of judgment, when you prefer to talk about tactical level operations, and put operations at an operational or strategic level under the rug

The damaged submarine appears to be the Improved Kilo class Rostov on Don, launched in 2014. Definitely not an old vessel.
