The War in the Ukraine

Recently they said 800'000 rub, but I am doubtful - it's close to the direct sum of necessary mechanical components.
If it's true, however, well - it's below 10k USD apiece.
Maybe they're discounting the original cost of the bomb, which Russia would still have massive stockpiles of. Base JDAM is about 20-25k per add on kit for dumb bombs, I can't imagine ER varient with added gliding wings to be much more expensive since it's a fairly mature tech at this point.

Briefing to the UK Parliament:

Excerpt:
The Russian army has lost half of its combat effectiveness in Ukraine, including as many as 2,500 tanks, and the main push of Kyiv’s counter-offensive is still to come, the head of Britain’s armed forces has said.

Admiral Sir Tony Radakin rejected suggestions that Ukraine’s counter-offensive was proceeding slowly, arguing that the pushback against Russia was “never a singular act”, and that Kyiv’s military strategy to “starve, stretch and strike” was gradually breaking down Russian defensive lines.

Russian Security council claims 120 tanks produced per month while the UK claims 200 per year 'at best' when the UVZ annual report has up to over 360 tanks produced in recent years before the war.

talk about two different universes.

And that don't mean that they lost 'half of its combat capability either', the Russian army is much larger than it has ever been. Perhaps they have lost a lot of their offensive ability and have to recover it but the defensive ability is still there.

It seems like the UK is making excuses for Ukraine.

The equivalent of the Russian UMPK is the JDAM-ER, that has a gide module.

The 10k / piece price is the 2004 cost of the standard JDAM, at the moment it cost around 30k.

JDAM-ER was developed in 2015, that is fairly new.

Ukraine received JDAM-ER, but usability of it is quite low due to the low release altitude.

Not a lot of footages of all these T-54/T-55 in Ukraine. Someone know where they are used ???

With all the talks about them and numerous train load filmed, it's quite surprising that we have so few. Got some used like bomb and a footage about indirect fire use but practically nothing else.

Turns out the large facility the two Su-25 FAB bombed as per my previously posted video was a large ammo depot in Orekhiv. That's going to affect the ammunition supplies in that sector. In addition another large ammo depot in Zaporozhye was also hit.

Strela-10 taken down by Ka-52. Probably the work of the 40th Marine Brigade. Telegram channel @voin_dv frequently shows the work of Siberians in the Russian Armed Forces, currently best represented by the 40th and 155th Marine Brigades. Also shows combat work in the Vremsky Ledge, Novodonetsk and Ugledar.

Ukrainian vehicle graveyard as per the Russian 70th Regiment in Zaporozhye.

AN/MPQ-64 Sentinel radar destroyed by artillery fire of the 57th Motorized Rifle Brigade in Klescheevka. This is a search radar needed for Ukrainian NASAMS and Avenger air defense systems.

Not even Oryx claims the Russians lost that many tanks. So I would like to know how they got to these numbers.
And this is Oryx who has been caught double counting destroyed tanks and identifying any burnt down unrecognizable tank hulk as Russian even when the tank model is operated by both sides.

They seem to be mostly used as artillery. The T-54/T-55 and T-62 series can elevate their gun more than the T-72 series.
One was stuffed full of explosives and sent into Ukrainian positions.

I am not sure the Russians have that many T-54/T-55 leftover. Many were either exported or turned into scrap and melted a long time ago.
Many T-54/T-55 and T-62 were exported to Syria for the conflict there for example. Many were exported still in Soviet times into the Iran-Iraq War and many other conflicts.

Yes I think with the entirety of NATO ISR capabilities to rely on Admiral Radakin is just a bit better placed to know the true figures than either Oryx was or any of the copers on here is.

It just amazes me that, with all the witless incompetence we've seen from the Russian army this last 16 months, people still can't believe they've taken heavy losses. You don't start dragging T62s and T55s out of the junkyard for no reason, FFS!

So replacement/equivalent of 2S9 NONA and possibly to replace some D-30 loss.

Range is probably quite low, but some source say maximum range in the indirect fire role of 14,600 m. Clearly not that bad. Precision is probably worse than dedicated artillery systems.

If availability is there why not. Still we don't see them a lot maybe because they are at the rear. Armor is probably way better than on the 2S9.
