The War in the Ukraine

If you do step on a petal mine, it will probably break your foot/leg due to the kinetic force, but the ballistic plate should absorb the shrapnel and blast effect so at least your feet and legs won’t get shredded to ribbons, so you won’t automatically loose your foot and/or leg. So less risk of bleeding out, and at least you have a shot at keeping all your limbs and making a full recovery.
Doesn't help too much. Only solution is to increase the distance from the detonation , and leave lot of air between yourself and the explosive .

Plate on foot will most likelly increase the effect, and increase the chance to trigger a mine.

Problem is exaclty like a torpedo detonate under a ship. All energy will be directed into the ship.

Standing ON the explosive, planted into the ground when its detonate will direct all energy into the body part / object that is above it.

If there is a plate between you and explosive then all happens the plate will transfer the energy, not absorb it.
Best strategy should be same stone or hook, to trigger the mine.

Or the old style stick with a knif on the end. Anything requrie time and effort . And patience.

Again, training, training,training.

Now, how smart is to have Wagner in Belarus, where Russian tactical nuclear warheads will soon be?

As if initiating the warhead is easy.

At this point tho i expect Putin will root out Wagner symphatizers in the administration so the chance in getting the PAL (Permissive Action Link) keys and its respective encryption will be close to zero. I remember that Igor Sushko guy making a sensational but poorly sourced post on how Wagner already captured Russian nuclear weapon storage. But no that doesnt happen.

Without PAL's the the best Wagner can do if they ever dare trying to seize the warhead is to make a dirty bomb. It will still make a big explosion but not nuclear magnitude.

a report to Zelensky by the Ukrainian General Staff. In this report, allegedly since the beginning of the counter-offensive, they've lost about 30% of the armored equipment donated by the western countries. 41 Leo 2s, 31 Bradleys, 7 Marders, 32 M113s, 15 YPR-765s, 4 PzH 2000, 19 M777s, 40 MRAPs, and a loss of 3 MiG-29s. On the other hand they claim destruction of 49 T-72/T-90s and 90 other AFVs.

The article also states that the Ukrainians came to pretty much the same conclusion as everyone on this forum - lack of air support, no easy way of dealing with minefields, not enough western weapons and ammo, particularly for artillery. And apparently unless they manage to achieve a breakthrough, in about a month they will have to go back on the defensive.

Not sure if true, I'm posting this as-is, I trust everyone can make their own judgement.

I have not seen evidence of that many losses of Leopard 2 tanks. The other numbers look more believable. Most tanks being lost by Ukraine still seem to be either T-72 or T-64 variants.

After the losses of Leopard 2's in their initial push they seem to have refrained from using those tanks in general.

Supposedly not that many Wagner troops participated. That is why the MoD is giving them the contracts. So they are definitely trustworthy. As for expending them, that is exactly the same mistake Russia committed in the beginning: sending every single professional soldier to join infantry and expecting them to perform like infantry. You need trainers. Without them, the institutional knowledge will just disappear and you are tasked with rebuilding everything from scratch. Back in the early years of GWOT, US SOCOM units specifically held back a certain number of SOF personal from going into combat purely due to this reason.

Some early numbers floating around say about 8,000 Wagner forces supported Prigozhin's Russian campaign. Coincidentally or not, this is the same amount of housing supposedly being constructed for Wagner in Belarus

This doesn't seem to be correct. Initial numbers point to 4,000 Wagner fighters supporting the rebellion, furthermore, it is speculated that some Wagner commanders refused to participate.

Russian milbloggers claimed on June 24 that the columns moving towards Moscow were comprised of 4,000 personnel with 40 to 50 pieces of equipment, including MRAPs, T-90M main battle tanks, BMP infantry fighting vehicles, Pantsir air defense systems, and Grad MLRS systems.

Regarding the Chinese origin 152mm ammo again:
View attachment 115113
Someone pointed out another interesting aspect of this picture. Recall previous discussion in this thread about possible Pakistani 122mm ammo following Chinese spec bursting Ukrainian 122mm guns:

The charge for this 152mm round is dated 2018, visibly newer and lacking any Chinese writing and is unlikely to be the original that came with the shell. This charge could be a domestic Iranian production and safe for Soviet spec guns. Iran may have helpfully packaged this new charge with old Chinese shell to make it safe for Russian use in the Soviet origin D-20.
Why would Iran label their charges in English?
