Doesn't help too much. Only solution is to increase the distance from the detonation , and leave lot of air between yourself and the explosive .If you do step on a petal mine, it will probably break your foot/leg due to the kinetic force, but the ballistic plate should absorb the shrapnel and blast effect so at least your feet and legs won’t get shredded to ribbons, so you won’t automatically loose your foot and/or leg. So less risk of bleeding out, and at least you have a shot at keeping all your limbs and making a full recovery.
Plate on foot will most likelly increase the effect, and increase the chance to trigger a mine.
Problem is exaclty like a torpedo detonate under a ship. All energy will be directed into the ship.
Standing ON the explosive, planted into the ground when its detonate will direct all energy into the body part / object that is above it.
If there is a plate between you and explosive then all happens the plate will transfer the energy, not absorb it.
Best strategy should be same stone or hook, to trigger the mine.
Or the old style stick with a knif on the end. Anything requrie time and effort . And patience.
Again, training, training,training.
