The War in the Ukraine

Again an interesting video from the Austrian Military Academy. A few interesting takeaways:
  • artillery accounted so far in this war for 45% of all Russian destroyed armoured vehicles, while anti-tank missiles for just 11%.
  • Ukrainian artillery uses a combination of domestically developed battle management artillery system GIS ARTA that collects precise target coordinates and automatically assigns targets to nearest artillery units or coordinates the arrival of artillery units to a firing position. The critical glue in the communication chain are Elon's Starlink satellites. So far, Starlink has proven too difficult for the Russians to jam. This enables dispersed artillery units to coordinate time-on-target attacks and minimize counter-artillery losses.
Interesting role of Elon Musk's Star Links in this. Never thought Star links would have military uses. China will soon have its own version of Star Links Galaxy Space.

Starlink was always going to be militarily important. DoD was contacting SpaceX about it many years ago.

Everyone in the know understood that Starlink was always going to have military use. I remember Elon talking about the military expressing interest on it since the beginning of the project

Good, means the if any party attack the Starlink style constellation then the sky will be blocked first for satelites, second for any rockets.

That's the definition of being cannon fodder
I signed a contract for six months. Prior to this, I served in the military division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs named after Dzerzhinsky in a separate commandant's battalion.
For all the time I served there, I went to the firing range 4 times, where each time I fired 6 rounds.
Ever since school, when I was in the 10th grade at paramilitary military training in the summer of 2 weeks, I was amazed, perplexed and surprised - why is that!? Why are they allowed to shoot only 6 rounds!? Indeed, in order to feel the machine, it is necessary at least that there are 15 rounds in the magazine, so that a person can shoot 2-4 single shots and then try to shoot in bursts of 4-5 rounds!?
And according to normal, of course, you need to give a whole store to a person for shooting - 30 rounds !! My opinion is that 6-round target shooting, which is massively used in the Russian army and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, is simply a mockery of military training !!

In the order of the commander of the Western Military District to send me to the unit, it was indicated that I was to be sent to accelerated training courses - survival. They were supposed to be there for two weeks. Also, my instructor for selection for a contract at the regional selection point for a contract said that they would “train me a little, teach me how to shoot from everything - from a grenade launcher, a machine gun, a sniper rifle.”
In fact, it was all a lie. No one taught us (22 people) anything. We were not even allowed to aim our weapons. We were supposed to be sent to Ukraine on April 6 to the city of Izyum, but the dispatch was delayed twice, as a result, we left for Ukraine on April 9 in the morning.
Regarding my military training, I knew that it was best (in my opinion) to shoot single shots from a machine gun. But I didn’t remember where the single firing mode was, and where in bursts - the lower position of the fuse or more upper.
Therefore, when I received the machine gun on April 6 in the evening, being sure that on the 7th we could already be in Ukraine, I asked the duty officer who issued the machine guns, “where is the single-shot mode?” This is how I prepared.
I also took two offensive grenades. I took offensive ones, since it is the safest to use - its fragments spread only 25 meters. I knew this from my military service. I never threw a grenade, so I asked the guys who threw it - how to use it correctly - how to screw in the fuse, how to bend the antennae and pull out the pin.

I question his IQ though on that he believed Putin's propaganda about how this war was actually a "special military operation" lol

Eh, is Russia so poor it can't even afford to have soldiers fire guns?

I mean, I don't have problems hearing how pilots barely gets to train with pgms, but gun bullets on the other hand?
