The War in the Ukraine

From the latest news their is the very high possibility almost certainly that in the next weapons packages of aid for the Ukrainian Army will include the Stryker MGS off which over 100 vehicles were recently retired from the U.S Army service
Man, that is another logistical nightmare. The MGS's autoloaders are a complete shitshow and one of the reasons it is being retired. Another being they lack punch.

Interesting video about the MiG-31 use in Ukraine. Apparently they have been employed more extensively than initialy reported, firing up to 6 R-37M a day over Ukraine at times

One nice article on the stryker:

That is interesting, that the design didn't work out for them.

Type 08 which serves roughly the same purpose in equipping the mobile light combined divisions in China won high acclaim and according to some sources were also highly effective at defeating Russian formations during joint exercises.

I'm surprised they will be retired as I assumed their firepower and speed made them one of the better tools in the American arsenal.

They are nice machines, pretty good for peacekeeping on roads or to do m113 job of carrying soldier to the battle and not in battle. But offroads they are quite unstable, we loss number of soldiers in Canada from roll over and bottom armor is lacking.

Maintenance is nightmare, have a tanker friend and his unit got many of them towed in Afghanistan. Addon of armor to add protection wrecked more or less all the drivetrain durability.

I heard they're trying to retreat discreetly not to cause panic and stress to the other ground units buts its all over social media anyway. It now appears there's fighting in the center of Soledar, referring to the center of the northern half, not the part connecting the two halves which was taken a while ago.

Big problem with M1128 is just that autoloader just plain didn't work most of the time. People were calling it "Liberator" in reference to that

because crew had to load the gun by hand, fire, then get out and reload a round by hand after each shot.

It's retired for a good reason. Nothing wrong with wheeled assault gun concept itself, you don't see PLA complain about Type-11, it's just M1128 that's bad.

The regular stryker with remote weapon station is fine, but I rather doubt Ukraine is getting them. More likely they're getting the recently returned M1128, ie they're been treated as retired weapon dumping ground again.

Apparently this M113 froze to the ground. Is that even possible?

A turning point in the war is very likely.

Germany could hand over at least 100 Leo-2a4s
Spain is prepared to hand over 80 Leo-2a4s
The Finns are ready to hand over 80+ Leo-2a4s
Poland is ready to hand over all of its 240 Leo-2a4 and Leo-2a5, but not immediately and only after receiving sufficient numbers of Black Panthers and Abrams in exchange.

In addition, the Norwegians and Danes could provide us with Leo-2s, and perhaps the Canadians as well.
In total, this will amount to around 500-650 Leopard-2s.

If the US also transfers 200-300 Abrams ...

It might be better logistically for the Ukrainians to get more Soviet and Russian gear especially types they are familiar with repairing and operating. For example, NATO sending those Leopards/Abrams to places that still have stocks of Soviet armor like Cyprus and have them transfer their T-80s and BMPs to Ukraine has been discussed in the past as the US recently removed their weapons embargo on the country.

Well Czech's are sending 90 upgraded T-72's with 20 delivered recently. The worst western tank Ukraine can get speaking logistically is the Abrams. The best Western tank is the Leopard since you have Euro nations bordering Ukraine that use the Leopard. They can easily set up a repair hub in Poland just across the border like they do with Ukrainian KRAB's and M777's. All is needed is Germany's blessing which they will eventually give in since you now have the French pressuring Germany and you may see UK be the first to deliver MBT's to get a snowball effect from Germany since they don't want to lead but follow.
