The War in the Ukraine

How effective is strategic strikes against infrastructure in the long run?
Opponents adapt, if the ukraine figures are to be believed the effectiveness of the shahed drones seems to have diminished as the Ukrainians have adapted and brought in more NATO supplied air defence assets.

No one has succeeded in breaking the will of an opponent by bombing them into submission*
*with the exception of the US nuking Japan

Submission isn't the purpose. Softening up is. See Iraq.

I think in this conflict so far, ATGMs have killed more tanks than tank on tanks gun battles ever could so discussing the merits of whether one could penetrate the other is academic at best, since most tank kills, we've seen on footage wasn't even aware that they were being targeted by an ATGM crew. Once you are spotted it basically doesn't matter what tank you are in unless it's the latest iteration of the T-90 a single ATGM can cripple you with the same ease they do to an APC.

There's nothing wrong with using old equipment as long as it serves the doctrine that your troops were trained for, since often times it is the only equipment in the numbers you need for a war of this size. Conversely the equipment needs to match the doctrine, at the start of the war Russia was trying to fight in a way that was completely anthesis to their equipment, the results speak for themselves, they're not the only ones who are affected by this however, we can also see that in Ukranian artillery usage case that they're using them like they were soviet designs, causing excessive wear on maintenance heavy western gear, it also does not help that they are sourcing weapons from many many different sources which has caused compatibility issues.

Drone corrected artillery by far dominate tank, apc, and afv kills, around 80 to 90% for both sides. The rest are everything including mines, which is probably the next.

ATGMs are often used as antipersonnel in this conflict, such as in troop concentrations and shelters.

Are they seriously doing a low level bombing run with a Su-57?

the fuck?.
That bombing run clip was back in April 22. It's still no confirmation that jet in clip was SU-57 since the video quality and light was not exactly good, this might as well be SU-34 or SU-30 which already confirmed to do this kind of bombing run especially in early part of SMO.

Russia MOD however, officialy confirm to use SU-57 in A2A and A2G back in October 22.

I'm curious how sensitive it could be as Starlink is not only highly directional but also emit rather low power.
Reason of the low range and accuracy.

pinpoint the terminals from longer distances needs drones.

High altitude ones.

Say a drone on 15 km altitude could detect and locate terminals in a 30-50 km circle.

Means all command point can be targeted without trouble.

A new battle account from @milchronicles. Let me boil it down to one sentence. Toyota wars don't work against drone corrected artillery and attack helicopters.

According to the Military Chronicle, on December 13, the Armed Forces of Ukraine attempted to storm the positions of the RF Armed Forces in the direction of Kremennaya.

After the use of RQ-20 reconnaissance drones, a column of Wolfhound light armored vehicles and pickup trucks of the Karpatskaya Sich brigade and an armored group of the 25th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine advanced to the area of positions of the Russian army from N. Terny village (30 km west of Kremennaya).

The column was discovered by the crews of Ka-52 attack helicopters of the Russian Aerospace Forces. After the air strike, the movement of Ukrainian troops was blocked, and the Tornado-S MLRS was used at the coordinates of the armored group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As a result of the impact, the stuck pickup trucks and armored vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were partially destroyed. Among other things, the group lost an HMMWV armored car with an AN / TPQ-36 Firefinder counter-battery radar, as well as a Rheostat mobile reconnaissance station.

The 2nd Battalion of the 25th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine suffered the heaviest losses: at least 50 people died when trying to break through to the positions of the Russian Armed Forces.

To attack the positions of the Russian Armed Forces, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine used the tactics of small fire groups, thanks to which they managed to achieve success in some areas in summer and autumn.

At that time, the RF Armed Forces did not have a continuous front - and this tactic justified itself. Today, the line of Russian troops, including thanks to the mobilized ones, is built in a very dense manner. It is impossible to break through it with mobile groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In addition, the effective use of light equipment is impossible in muddy conditions.

Gonna weld some JDAM kits to the soviet FAB/OFAB bombs?. Also, pretty sure JDAMs require to be droped from high altitude for them to work properly so that means exposing what's left of Ukranian aviation to CAP and S300/S400.

The first thing that occurred to me would be GPS guidance kits for Tu-141 UAVs. Originally Tu-141 is a reconnaissance drone, they may have modified a very small number initially, after the recent success on the bomber bases the US might have decided to send more kits to modify more of them into kamikaze drones.
