The Royal Navy's Type 45 Destroyer

nice pic there Jeff, and a formidable task force too with those 2 Type 45 destroyers

every week when i drive back home i cross the forth road bridge over Rosyth, from there i can see the sections of the red blocks of the HMS Queen Elizabeth at Rosyth Dockyard, where at the dry dock they will complete the construction of the carrier

its just amazing see these carriers assembled in Scotland, we have such a strong shipbuilding industry, even although we havnt built anything this large and not even a full sized carrier for the best part of 30 years, its a milestone and a big achivement that we have still re-tained the talent pool to construct something like this

making a aircraft carrier of this size and sophistication puts u in a league of its own

Sad to see the once formidable royal navy now will only have 6 type 45's have 1 (or 2) aircraft carriers with no jets for the first two years of its service.

Re: UK Royal Navy's Daring has an "amazing" experience with US Navy Aircraft Carriers

The MH-60R Romeo and MH-60S Sierra helicopters are well-suited to the ***** Navy’s requirements.

The MH-60R, equipped by Lockheed Martin with the latest and most advanced mission systems and sensors, and the MH-60S, which shares an advanced Common Cockpit Suite with its counterpart, fulfill numerous multimission roles including:
Primary
Anti-submarine warfare
Anti-surface warfare
Special Ops/Commando
Amphibious Assault
Troop Carrier
Secondary
Electronic intelligence
Search and rescue
External Cargo
Communications Duties
Counter-terror/piracy
The MH-60R/S are low-risk: technically, programmatically and financially. These aircraft have been successfully deployed numerous times with the U.S. Navy, so their operational prowess is proven. The programs are stable and fully funded and the U.S. Navy has plans for continued upgrades and modernization to maintain the aircraft’s position at the forefront of technology. Proven training and maintenance models exist so the program has predictable costs.
The MH-60R/S are the culmination of 30 years of lessons learned developing, delivering, operating and maintaining maritime helicopters for the U.S. Navy. Lockheed Martin spent ten years perfecting the art of turning a Seahawk into a “Romeo” aircraft, equipping it with the latest sensors and systems and streamlining integration so the entire aircraft is perfectly calibrated. The Sierra is equally integrated and incorporates all of the flight control interfaces and total aircraft commonality that brings economies to the life cycle support of each aircraft. The beauty of integrated mission systems is that they display a picture of the surface and subsurface domains, prioritize the data into actionable knowledge, and allow the crew to spend less time interpreting data and more time prosecuting the target.

easy on there guys, we will get the jets in good time, and there wont be many country apart from US that will field this sort of task force

a QE Carrier along with 2 x Type 45 Destroyers, a Brand new replenishment tanker and a Astute Class Submarine, not to mentioned F35 and possibly V-22

and we have 2 carriers capable of carrying 80 aircraft together, thats is a serious force

this task force will add the "Royal" back into the Royal Navy

The carrier is staying pretty steady...of course it masses 10X the Burke. Look how many of the Carrier personnel are clicking pics with their cell phones and cameras. LOL!

Look at the guys on the bridge of the Burke. Dangerous place to be outside of the enclosed spaces it seems in those seas.

I don't really understand this picture. Since the DDG navigate so heavily, the sea state must be rather bad. Of course the carrier is much bigger and more stable. But in such a bad weather, how those people standing on there just like having fun?

This picture was taken during a Tiger Cruise.

A Tiger Cruise is when family and friends sail on a ship for a few days to experience life at sea. Wives and girlfriends are excluded.

All that's going on in that picture is a hard turn. The folks on the carrier are in no danger. the DDG turned as the CVN did and got caught in her wake. That's all, no big deal.

End off topic.
