The Q-5, J-7, J-8 and older PLAAF aircraft

I have heard the T stands for 特, or special. If not for reconnaissance it could be an ASAT or anti-AWACS mission. The J8 is the fastest refuel-capable fighter in PLAAF. The J8T might be designed to refuel right before making a high speed dash at the target.

The J-8 is certainly the best platform for those roles, and with, most likely another series of upgrades, it could perform the mission pretty well. I guess that is why the WP-14 is still getting a lot of coverage even though most countries no longer use turbojet engine aircraft. Also perhaps this is related to that new, unidentifed missile seen being carried by the J-11 recently.

A.man, i will start deleting your posts if you keep on posting cctv links without talking about what's discussed on there. We have many non-mandarin speakers on this forum who will not be able to understand.

a bunch of F-8T pictures and descriptions from the recent Beijing airshow. Honestly, it's pretty disappointing. I thought it would be a special missions aircraft, but it turns out to just be another fighter in this series. The specs don't seem to have changed too much from previous F-8IIM. You can see a bunch of its stats and engine numbers from the pictures I attached.

In sync with my other thread on radar. of China state business lacking innovation, love to milk the old design. Shenyang is one of the worst. It's Engine after all those yrs still a no go, top of list in disappointment. maye the cold weather up there make them hibernate.

Same engine as the J-8II and everything, how is this aircraft any different the J-8F? Is this an export model or something? Part of it is written in English afterall.

Of course the specs wouldn't change much as the airframe is pretty much the same, but that bulge between the intakes is unlikely to be anything other than a special mission suit.
