According to eyewitnesses and pictures, on March 1st, 2014 in Feodosiya, Crimea, the second Zubr (project 1232.2) amphibious hovercraft for the Chinese Navy (PLAN) was rushed on its way to China ahead of schedule (before all trials were conducted). The obivous reason of this sudden move was to avoid any damage to the vessel in case the situation in Crimea deteriorated.

Yes but very few are actually operational if any due to spares and cost
I thought only four Zubrs were ever acquired by the Greeks.

The Hellanic Ship Cephalonia (L180) was purchased used from the Russian Navy and was then upgraded; Ithaca (L181) was never finished by the Russians and was obtained by Greece and then completed by Morye Shipyard in the Ukraine; Corfu (L182) was a new build by Almaz in St. Petersbug. All three of those were commissioned in 2001 into the Hellanic Navy. The fourth vessel, Zackynthos (L183) , was launched in June 2004, also by Almaz's St Petersburg yard, and was commissioned into the Greek Navy in January 2005.

Was a fifth added later that I'm missing?

I thought that all four, however active, were still listed as commissioned within the Hellanic Navy.

haha, I thought it was 4 too. Probably be against embargo, but seems like since they are wasted there, PLAN could acquire them.

Facts:
Greece originally ordered 4 Zubrs.
2 from Russia and 2 from Ukraine.
The order of the first 2 (from Russia) was ok and both were accepted by Hellenic Navy (HN).
The order of the other 2 (from Ukraine) had problems and HN got only one of them.
The second one was rejected and after negotiations they decided to replace the non accepted one with a new build from Russia.
So, at the end, HN got 3 from Russia and only 1 from Ukraine.
Right now, HN has 3 operational Zubrs and they are about to restore the fourth one back to duty.

The second Zubr from Ukraine was NEVER accepted by HN.
That is why some people get confused about the total number bought from Greece.
