Interesting that even before the first Zubr is commissioned 2 shipyards are building them, not only that it looks like they will do some modifications after launch, a story very similar to the Type 056, four shipyard started simultaneous construction and funnel and bow modifications done after launch

Establishing a fleet of Zubrs will seriously enhance the fast amphibious capability of PLAN

I guess China is aiming enforcing its sovereignty of those tiny islands in the SCS. More pics from early July:

so how many ZUBR will China build ? perhaps 9 (3 each fleet)

I don't know about that.

For the South Sea Fleet I think China can use the Zubr with Paracel Islands scenarios, however they don't have the range to cover the Spratlys.

For the East Sea Fleet I don't think the Zubrs are very survivable in a Taiwan or Diaoyutai scenario, yet at the same time they are a political liability to be deployed in peacetime to these areas as it would appear too aggressive, so my bet is the East Sea Fleet won't get any.

For the North Sea Fleet, the Zubrs are not very survivable if it has to go up against South Korean or US forces, the Zubrs may be useful if China has to land in North Korea but once again deployment in peacetime carries too much political baggage.

So I think China will build 2 to 4 units plus the 2 from Ukraine just for the South Sea Fleet making a total of 4 to 6. From the know-how absorbed I anticipate China to refine the medium size LCAC for the 071 instead of building more Zubrs or some other large LCAC.

Did it happen or is this the work of someone behind a computer?
If it did happen I would have expected to see people running away from the craft.

From that video, it seemed that the peoples are already aware of the LCAC and was standing in crowd to watch it come in. Actually I believe that announcement had been make and people are expecting it, much like watching an aircraft taking off in some air shows.

I wonder why did they do that. Its very dangerous to land a hovercraft that big in a crowded beach. A lot of people could get hurt badly.
Well, if you go to youtube and watch it in full screen, it is coming in on the other side of where the people are. Watch the kite fly in front of it.

At first, I felt like delft...that somehow this was a PS of the video. And it still may be...but it definitely comes in behind all of the people and there are people taking pictures of it.

One thing...when you look at the people in the distance, this thing is HUGE. Much bigger than I thought. Particularly compared to the people in the distance who are extremely small in comparison. That's one of the things that still makes me wonder about this...if it is not a video superimposed on another one. Otherwise, that thing is a monster.
