Yeah a prepared and trained ground crew can repair that kind of runway crater in much less than a week. Of course if this is a civilian airport it's possible they don't have such crews available but that would also imply the PAF doesn't really intend to do much that airport so we're back to square 1.
One crater can be repaired in a few hours. They have special concrete just for this job. Dries in one day

Vietnam? Obviously somebody hasn't been paying attention to much news within the last.... 5 years or so (and especially the past few weeks). Though likelihood of Vietnam buying Chinese advanced military hardware is still low.

A country like Vietnam buying Rafale would be ridiculed by its own people. Their only option is the outdated American weapons of last generation, which are worse than Rafale but are less controversial.

In the case of Vietnam it is difficult imagining them going with anything other than Russian or indigenous weapons. Vietnam procuring Rafale would be ridiculous indeed. Some peoples are stuck in a colonial mindset (Indians, Filipinos), whereas stronger peoples like the Vietnamese, Koreans, and Pakistanis are not.

The problem isn't PL-15 being wunderwaffe, it's not and that's why China has PL-17, PL-21 and won't ever stop developing better missiles.
The problem is the west claimed Rafale was a wunderwaffe and reality was as far from that claim as you can get.
In a few private chats and on this forum I wrote about the Rafale. It is a capable jet. But the marketing associated with it is ridiculuous. LO/VLO distinction in an attempt to imply it is semi-stealthy, the exaggeration of the Meteor, "Active stealth", "Omni role", non stop references to that exercise when it got a win against F-22, claims at supercruise... And it was sold to jingoistic nations like India.

I am kinda glad it was shot down LOL. I enjoy watching pretenders getting exposed.

As a Vietnamese, I just said that the probability that Vietnamese buy French weapon is much higher than both China or America. In fact, in the past, Vietnam used to negotiate to buy both Mirage fighters and Sigma warships and we have Thales sonar
But, Vietnam will still try to buy Russia as much as possible or maybe Korea, Japan or Israel.

P/S I still believe the rumors of buying F 16 is false, as Vietnam is not yet ready for a new ecosystem and the probability to buy russia fighters like Su 30 SM or Su 35 increase. And buy Chinese weapons, i know they’re very good but that’s still close to impossible

It’s used to justify exorbitant price, kinda like how Coach and Gucci try to sell 30,000 dollar bags that are made for 10 bucks tops.

It is both funny and sad how even conservative China hating sites like 1945 started taking a dump on the IAF. This one in particular seemed particularly vicious since it dedicated almost half of the article to Cope India series of exercises and how the results weren’t reflective of real combat. If I recall correctly Jai Hinds often boast of how much they humiliated F-15/16 with MK and MKIs.

This is Ukrainian source, not Russian, they can only guess what's operating against them over Kursk/Belgorod area (which means threat against Sumy/Poltava). Anyway, I doubt they are much worth in BVR with what they've got.
Don't make PL-15 to sound like a Wunderwaffe from single engagement, any proper BVR is hard to beat without proper warning.

BVR weapons are in fact easier to defeat compared to IR WVR ones. (Read up on history of Sparrow and radar AAMs.)

The reason is quite simple. You need radar lock-on for BVR (okay USSR had tested some long range IR) which triggers all the defense mechanism of the target aircraft -- MAWS, jammers, other ECM, i.e. SPECTRA on the Rafale.

What makes the PL-15E special is it most likely pulled off that theoritical kill chain you need against a modern fighter like the Rafale. The fact that the kill shot struck the Rafale at long range behind its own lines means that SPECTRA was unable to activate. Either the Rafale was jammed to the point of befuddlement or it was the PL-15's lock-on not happening until the Rafale was within its no-escape zone. The PL-15's lock-on lighting so late would mean mid-course guidance from another source.

Whether or not any old BVR weapon can do that to a modern Western aircraft remains to be seen.

I remember very well Indians were boasting about Rafale would dominating J-10C with Meteor and the godly SPECTRA when they first got them. And even J-20 were paper tiger from Temu that get tracked by their Su-30MKI.

But sadly Indians were not alone, I see quite a few Pakistani members including mods who have the same opinion on J-10C vs Rafale on their site back then. Thea's why it was so satisfying to see the result the last few days.
