To be fair, that took them long enough.

But for them to finally push funding for this, means they also reckon their existing launch platform won't survive the initial exchange(s) so they want to expand their options, including first strike option.

Still, if they consider first strike, air-launched Yun Feng missile with VX gas payload would be far more potent.

During the mooring test of Haikun, the unstable voltage of the onshore power supply caused damage to multiple subsystem components. The number of damaged components exceeded expectations, and due to insufficient backup components, the progress was delayed.

According to reports, the over 400 lead-acid batteries selected for the Hai Kun submarine have finally received approval from the European manufacturing country to be shipped via a third country. They were transported to Taiwan by sea a month ago. The batteries will only be installed in the Hai Kun submarine after completing the Harbor Acceptance Test (HAT). However, issues such as excessive component damage due to unstable voltage and hydraulic problems may affect the schedule for the Sea Acceptance Test (SAT) in April, leading to adjustments in the battery installation timeline.

Rumor has it they stripped over 600 scrapped BMW's and scoured regional mechanic shops to find enough batteries
