If DPP loves Japan so much, they can beg JASDF to use F-15J as Flanker actors.

Of course, F-15J is so old that they might just crumble into dust, I think I read somewhere that they aren't even allowed to intercept PLAAF flights anymore.
You don't say...

The JASDF could very well just give Taiwan those F-15s at a very low price, and let the ROCAF pilots fly those F-15s until they either:
1. Refused to fly from the base, or
2. Refused to return to base.

A win-"win" deal for Japan and Taiwan, either way.

Shilao and co had a hilarious time trying to come up with combinations for ROCAF to simulate various PLAAF aircraft. One of the more fun one was four F-CK-1 flying in close formation could simulate the weapon load of a single JH-7.

Only recon units still have J-8 so that's out. That one single J-7E from 2021 was mentioned (I recall that ADIZ report vividly myself), according to them that unit of J-7E was due to be retired and that flight into the ADIZ was one of the last thing they did with them to finish on a high note.
This reminds me of one thing: the Japanese once thought that the J-10 only had the performance level of MiG-23.
These Taiwanese people are completely consistent with the Japanese in underestimating their opponents.

Considering that the J-20 pilot of PLAAF recently claimed to have seen the scenery of Taiwan Island, the real opponent of Mirage 2000 would only be more terrifying.

If we apply the logic of some fanboys this must totally mean that F-16V is junk and not that the decision is politically motivated or that the aircraft wasn’t properly handled. Four 4.5th gen creamed by four legacy Mirages, just because they simulate PLAAF planes lol.

PLA would most definitely appreciate it if ROCA buys more used Mirage 2000s to replace the F-16s lol.

"Oh nooooes! Your Mirage 2000s defeated our J-10s in your totally not pre-determined simulation????! It would surely be the end of the world for us if you were to buy more of them and retire your inferior F-16s!!!" ;)

If it isn’t purely political nonsense then I suspect that they were using the F-16V wrong. Since they are F-16A/B converted to V standard they didn’t bother with engine upgrade, so kinematically it might be at a disadvantage. But the radar advantage should have rendered the whole thing moot. AIM-120C7/LPI AESA should have made close quarter tangling unnecessary.
Interesting, I was under the impression they also upgraded the engines to convert to V standard. At least based on this graphic. I guess maybe this is for the new airframes they're getting in 2026, or this is just not accurate.

Those won't arrive till 2026, if at all. New F-16V is a completely different beast from the ones upgraded from F-16A/B.
