For the plot holes.
1) Stargate the movie never explained how it is that they happened to have just the right kind of probe for the gate and could trace said probe across 90 billion light years.
2) how Ra could be both a possesed Human and a Grey alien at the same time and seemingly switch back and forth.

Add to this the Technical issues... Black in the Desert. ( they shot it in Yuma Az. The Cast had to be Iv'ed!) Berets.... MP5'S in Special Forces!!!

Even the original movie actors are likely out.
I mean Richard Dean Anderson took The Role of Jack O'neill for the series he's 64 years old. The Original actor for the Role Kurt Russel ( a local boy born in Springfield, Ma) is only a year younger. and Both Are showing there Age. Mandatory US military retirement age is 62 So the Characters are out unless it's yet another Reboot. James spader is 53 and not the Young Dr. Jackson of the movie, Micheal Shanks ( whom Equation still has a Grudge against for stealing Lexa Doig :p) is still in his 40's so he might be a good option if you wanted a leading man. Unless they do a Reboot or period set within Stargate it's hard to figure on them using actors form either the movies or the series.
If they go Reboot, On the upside they might be able to fill the Plot/Technichal holes in Stargate.

Certainly. The article you posted that mentioned they wanted to expand it to a new generation... that basically means new younger actors. There's also a possibility of new characters replacing old ones. If this is a trilogy, I expect it's not going to relegated to one planet they travel to with only one villain. Might be facing all the Egyptian deities.

TerraN_EmpirE; And Remember this Scene? So the Question is How do They work it? They can't do a total reboot and looks the money of Hard core SG1 fan's and they cant exactly embrace it all as that would inessence mean loosing control of there production. They might be able to do a Hybrid line accepting part of the SG1 story line and then playing it there own way. The last of the Active Star Gate series that is accepted as Cannon was Universe which burned it's self out. Oh and for the Record I am a big Stargate Fan. When I am not here I am part of a Stargate Sim.[/QUOTE said:
Well you probably got some more laughs since Devane got a second term as president in the new season of 24.

According to one source they're saying it's a sequel reboot new trilogy I don't know when I hear that it sounds like they're going to try and pull a Star Trek. This could be good or bad. They might not have to deal with a semi organized system lords threat like the tv show. The Guald system lords story is not suited for a movie trilogy format it was best told in the tv series. If they're going for movies I see more of a Replicator or Anubis type of threats that is going big for the big screen.

If they make a Stargate remake, I hope they include RDA, Michael Shanks, David Hewlett and Chris Judge. Seriously, Stargate wouldn't be Stargate without the banter between O'Neil and Daniel Jackson, and Teal'c's "indeed"s.

Optional but highly recommended would be Amanda Tapping and Joe Flanigan.

I would pick Nathan Fillion (the guy that played Capt. Reynolds from Firefly) to play Jack O'Neil's character.

Definitely no one from the original movie or tv series will be reprising their roles or very unlikely in these new movies other than cameos.

Jack O'Neil which O'Neil will they want back Kurt Russell's no nonsense Col. or a turn it on turn it off Richard Dean Anderson's wise guy then get series Col.? Granted the Original movie did not allow the O'Neil character to show much of a lighter sde since the situation in the movie was almost wall to wall no playing around. Now the Tv series its like a year or more after they defeat Ra the O'Neil character is much looser and wise cracking maybe it's from being temporarily being retired or its a coping mechanism from the death of his kid.

I Like Nathan Fillion but not for Jack O'Neil maybe Daniel Jackson.

But I see this trilogy going the international casting route to garner intrest in the global market. Stargate Command was going global now they can have an international roster.

Inside Movies 'Edge of Tomorrow': Design secrets of Tom Cruise's exoskeleton armor

If there’s one thing actors don’t like, it’s looking dumb onscreen. They just hate it. Which explains why Emily Blunt was relieved—honestly, she swears, relieved—to have to wear an 85 lb metal exoskeleton during the battle scenes in Edge of Tomorrow. “Can you imagine trying to walk like you’re in one of those suits, and then they paint it in afterward with a computer? You’d look stupid,” she says. “When you see the movie, the action looks authentic because we were genuinely put on wires and flipped around wearing these enormous suits.”
In Edge of Tomorrow (out June 6), Blunt and Tom Cruise play soldiers who fight an invading alien army with the help of supercharged exoskeletons — something like a cross
(Between)
Robocop and Ripley’s cargo-loader in Aliens. The costumes were designed by Pierre Bohanna, who also worked on Christian Bale’s batsuit in The Dark Knight and all sorts of magical thingamajigs in the Harry Potter movies. Actually, “designed” doesn’t quite do it justice — the suits were built like Formula 1 racecars, combining 275 custom-made components, plus another 150 pieces of hardware, all taken from concept to final product in 26 weeks. “We had to make it ourselves,” explains Bohanna, who cranked out nearly 100 suits by the end of the film. “That’s what I specialize in. You set up a manufacturing process that’s bespoke to it. All the CAD drawing, all the prototype work, all the molding, the casting, the fabrication, artwork, and assembly were all done in house.”
Inspiration came from a few different sources, including the original Japanese novel that served as source material for Edge of Tomorrow. (Though the suits in it are described as completely sealed-off shells, which Bohanna says would’ve obscured too much of Cruise’s multimillion-dollar face.) Bohanna and his team also looked at the cutting edge of real-life exoskeletons, including bionics developed to help paraplegics walk and military-grade suits like the Raytheon SARCOS and Lockheed’s Human Universal Load Carrier (which conveniently acronyms to “HULC,” like a French Canadian Bruce Banner.)
Trade-offs were inevitable. Soft or lightweight materials would be easier on the actors but wouldn’t look as believable. Self-powered suits would be closer to the movie’s version of reality, but even the military hasn’t quite mastered those yet. Bohanna’s suits have shock absorbers, but all the movement comes from the actors inside. With few exceptions, the suits were a one-size-fits-all model that adjusted to accommodate actors from 5’4” to 6’5”. “These are meant to look like military pieces of hardware, not a refined piece of engineering,” Bohanna says. “They’re brash, quickly-made pieces of equipment. So you’ve got to see the guys struggling in them. But it’s a massive worry when you take something like this and put someone like Tom in there. It’s a massive ask for anyone to put up with, let alone somebody that important. But the first time he put it on, it took him about ten minutes of moving around in it and then he fell in love with it. He wanted to put the suit on every day to get used to it.”
Naturally, getting in and out of a thing like that is a little more complicated than putting on a pair of jeans. Bathroom breaks and between-shot pauses turn into logistical nightmares that require a full team of wranglers and some imaginative solutions. “Let me tell you what happens when you’re wearing a suit that wears 85 pounds, and you need to get out of it,” says Blunt, who lovingly nicknamed her armor “Babs.” “They basically bring in these A-frames. It looks like a kid’s swing set. And they have hooks hanging from it. And you have five people hang you on these things to take the suit off you. Because if you just dropped it to the floor you’d probably kill someone.”
In fact, for all the high-technology design that went into the suits, Bohanna relied on some decidedly low-tech hacks to keep them working once the shoot started. “I think we spent about £4,000 on cable ties,” he says. “They’re such a quick way of holding things together. If something popped off, we’d just snap them back together.”

This morning there were reports Harrison Ford injured himself on the set of Star Wars. Now it's being reported he broke his ankle. Since supposedly the movies centers on Han Solo more than any other character, it doesn't like its good for the schedule.

I knew this would happen, its ridiculous to think that someone in their old age could perform stunts like when they were in their 30s
