Well it looks like nothing from the books or anything else outside the movies and animated shows will be a part of the Star Wars universe. Makes sense since JJ Abrams didn't want to follow the Star Trek canon at all.

I am thinking this is still sci-fi talk, the video in the article is a must watch:

If 1964 is too recent we can try 1939:

Thai Star Wars fan, Udomsak Ratanotayanonth, 29, dressed as a Stormtrooper donates his blood to celebrate the upcoming Star Wars Day with good deeds, at the Thai Red Cross in Bangkok, Thailand, April 28, 2014. The '501st Legion', the Star Wars fan club in Thailand, came dressed as Stormtroopers to donate blood to the Thai Red Cross as part of their charity project aimed to raise funds for an orphanage house to celebrate their annually Star Wars Day on the Fourth of May.

I hope this happens, there's been talk about a sequel to the "Last Starfighter". It may be 80s cheesy but I grew up with it and I loved it. I like the Gunstar 1 ship design as well. It's technology was has ahead of it's time (in film that is) with multiple targeting systems that works like today EOTS on the F-35 AND J-20.

That would be a perfect choice, any remake is bound to be forced into being a tentpole with an action heavy storyline where everything else is pushed into a formula.

I'm all for Last Starfighter to be remade. But from some of the speculation I've heard this franchise might be tied up in ownership disputes.

We'll it's been officiated the six Star Wars movies and Clone Wars tv series are the absolutely undisputed canon. But there is a loop hole material from the expanded universe can be accessed to make future Star Wars movies and made canon through this loop hole.

Those the only ones? I'd be surprised and a bit upset to find out that the KOTOR/TOR series isn't canon, but then considering that bioware and Lucasarts have tried very hard to pretend like KOTOR2 didn't happen i guess i wouldn't mind that much.
