With that said, do you guys think they will do a Gundam movie one day? I hope so.

Yeah Hollywood would do Gundam the way they did Dragon Ball and Avatar the Last Air Bender. Make all the Asian guys in these show into white guys.

With the all the talk about who's coming back to the new Star Wars movies I would have to say I would like to see Darth Maul. For those who haven't been watching The Clone Wars CGI animated show Darth Maul is alive. I just watched the last episode and that's one story they should've had for the movies. They showed how he survived The Phantom Menace, you find out about his origins, he has a brother who he took up as his apprentice, and how he sees both the Jedi and the Emperor as his enemy with revenge in mind for Obi Wan. The thing is who knows if he would survive The Clone Wars. After Darth Maul stages a takeover of Mandalor, Boba Fett's home world, The Emperor senses his presence and goes to Mandalor and kicks some ass. First time you see the Emperor in action fighting against Darth Maul and his brother. That was an exciting battle. Let's just say the Emperor served some humble pie for Darth Maul to eat. I wish it was longer than a thirty minute TV show.

No, I think they've learned their lesson from that bombshell of an "Air Bender". I hope.

Well unless someone restarts Avatar, I don't think you'll be seeing any more movies since the first one bombed. I'm not as offended with the casting because I think the show was created by people who are not Asian. Now if they took source material from Asia, that's another story.

true, but the underlying discrimination against Asians is the problem. To Hollywood, Asians still does sell. And they still believe that most Americans won't want to watch a movie full of Asians. Like the mini-series Earthsea, the books clearly stated that it was in Southeast Asia and most of the characters should be the natives. However, the movies had an almost all white cast, except Danny Glover. The author of the books got super mad and voiced her anger on her website and said she did not endorse the movies at all. So all in all, I am still troubled by this stereotyping/discrimination...

How do you judge success, a movie returning 2,3,4 and more X the cost of production.? IMO a Star Wars or James Bond movie will make money without the asian market. The asian market would just be the icing on the cake for these two movies.

You're right you can make a profit on any movie if you can make a return from whatever x amount spent on. But in order to have blockbuster a movie has to do well in all over the world, consider nowadays how much it costs just to produce them are in the hundreds of millions of dollars. The Asian market is growing and still has plenty of room for the future, meanwhile in the domestic market has already peaked. That's why big Hollywood producers needs a new market in order to spur growth.

Though I'm kind of curious what a Peter Jackson directed Star Wars would look like.

Outside of the LOR and Hobbit, Jackson's love is making horror and splatter movies. and he draws much of his movie making inspiration from directors who have made their name in this kind of genre. So its hard to say how it would turn out. However hes on record as saying he admires Kubrick's work so maybe it would look like "Space Odessey"

Have a look at the Jackson remake of "King Kong" which is slightly removed from genre of film he had been making till then, and see what you think.

No matter how profitable the film turns out to be, the Hollywood suits through creative accounting, understate how much profit they are making.

Ask Peter Jackson, unless I'm mistaken, part of his payment when making LOR was a percentage of the profits which the producers understated , and it led to words by jJackson.
