Hey friends, I just searched for keyword "Halo" in the thread but got the nearest related reply almost 6 years ago. Don't know if Halo is still a topic here.
I was a Halo fan, not only because of Master Chief and his heroism, but also the bravery, the sacrifice and determination of the whole humanity.
The initial narrative was still western style, the dirty little secret of ONI, origin of Orion-II supersoldier, the division, the conflict between UEG and her colonies. Better still, it did show the unity when the Covenant decided to annihilate us. And surely with the determination, we eventually won.
It's a shame to see Halo stories fall behind nowadays. The Mantle of Responsibility eventually becomes a joke, nobody deserve it, nor human, Forerunners or Precursors, because everyone wages a war against some other guys. The stories after Halo 3 or Halo: Ghost of Onyx are far less intersting than the space operas, and perspective of ma events become narrower, from Forerunners to AI to a tiny group of Banished.
Not quite sure if Star Wars encounters the same problem. I've only watched The Phantom Menace and Rouge One, and I quite like both, especially the latter. Rouge One provide a microscope of a big picture, just like Halo 3: ODST or Halo Reach.
